Berdych has progressed stealthy so far without dropping a single set in any of his Australian Open matches.
Yet very few posters are mentioning his name! He's up against Kevin Anderson in the fourth round. Who do you think will stand in his way? Will he take one of the top 4 seeds out of this slam?

I'm not even joking, I didn't even think Berdych was in the AO - I thought he withdrew for some reason and this was a trolling thread. I stopped after I opened it and looked up the draw to make sure, and there he is! You're right about the silent part at least.
Even now I'm thinking this is all some sort of elaborate prank. How have I not noticed? Last edited by MindoverMatter : 01-18-2013 at 02:44 PM. |

He's never a silent threat. He's usually a whiny loudmouth.
Seems like maybe he took that to heart and decided to stay out of the press this tournament, at least till he gets to the quarters (if he does). I'd like to see K. Anderson take him out. But the five-setter against FeVer may have gutted him, so I have my doubts.

I've said it twice, but I'll say it again.
Berdych on hard courts = lurking threat. He took out Fed at USO, he took the first set vs Nadal last year and threatened with set points with a two sets to love lead. However, considering how well Djokovic has been playing it'll take a miracle or a considerable fall in quality for Berdych to be able to beat him. Nevertheless, a Berdych win would be exciting for the top half of the draw.

I voted Yes. Not sure it's 'his time'. And wouldn't put any money on it - unless I got some huge number. But if things play out - e.g. Djokovic has a bad day - it could happen. Remember that despite the SF at the USO, he still has the H2H on Murray if they were the final. And he's beaten Fed twice at majors. And he's been in a final so he probably wouldn't be completely freaked out.

Berdych can move as stealthly as he wants to because if he gets to Cvac, he's donzo.

Novak would of have to play like Murray for Berdych to have any chances winning that match.

Djoker is a bad matchup for the Berd, he's 1-11 against Djok.

I suspect it will take more than the "Davis Cup bounce" to win it all...still, stranger things have happened.

Of course. He is always a threat, as he has a big game, and is plenty experienced. He can take it to the top guys. But, IMO, he provides more of a threat to Murray and Fed (at least based on past matches) than Djokovic and he's in Djokovic's quarter. But, if he's "on" and serving well, he can make it tough for anyone. That said, all I think he'll do is give Djokovic a good match, maybe take a set. I don't think he'll win.

Obviously Djoko will stand in his way. He would have a better chance if he was in Fed's half. Not a good draw from his perspective.
