Default Djokovic ripping his shirt off: Sanctions or not?

Ripping your shirt off will get you a yellow card in football (soccer). Should that rule be imposed in tennis as well? To me a player is free to celebrate the way he wants to. What about you?

Vote and Comment.

Sanction him for making me want to gag. This guy is such a classless ape that I cannot believe he has fans. He is disgusting in every possible way there is.

It was pretty classless. I think Stan should have gone over and punched Novak. But the tennis authorities have no balls, they'd never do anything.

Eh it should be allowed. Infact if we promote it in men's tennis, someday it might happen on the women's side too.

and what happens if he does that in the middle of the match ?

(by the way, did any player ever celebrate a match win by breaking his racquet ? sounds crazy, i know... but stranger things have happened !)

+1. In footie, once the match is over, you're free to take your shirt off. If Djoko did this while the match was still going that's a different story, but the match was over and this was an after win celebration.

Seeing that the match meant a lot to Novak probably made Stan feel a little better, actually. Imagine if Novak just reacted as if it was just another early round victory...

Taking your shirt off after a match is allowed, especially after such a grueling match. I kind of understand his (over the top) celebration.

Why shouldnt he celebrate the way he likes? If it upsets you turn off.
Novak went out of his way to be respectful to wawrinka after the match.

Yeah by tearing off his shirt like an ape. That is not being respectful to your opponent no matter how many times you *********s insist on it.

Personally, I like over the top displays of emotion from players, but I get how it can rub some people the wrong way. I don't think it would be appropriate during a match, but I'm fine with whatever kind of celebration a player wants when a match is over.

That rule is stupid anyway.

Tennis would be poorer if it went the way of football in many ways football is a bad example as a sport football is way behind tennis not only in technology.

This is not hockey Nole hugged Wawa at the net and even applauded him when he left the court. What 's the big deal here?

My favorite moment was the gentle touch to Stan's face by Novak. I always enjoy that move.
