weak sauce. he should have stayed on court and taken his beating like a man. Almagro was on form and would have made it quick. If you're hurt, just limp from point to point.

Contrast that with Nishikori who battled through a knee injury today against Ferrer. Mark of a true competitor. Or Serena who rolled an ankle and then gave her opponent a beat-down earlier this very Australian Open.

Tipsy has no right to complain about, or even discuss, the WTA or pay again.

Cheers. Greatest breakdown in tennis history.

"That's 72 unforced errors. He's playing the worst tennis of his life... Strange day out here at Windswept Fields."

These days you hardly ever see a chess game ending with a check mate on high levels, they all end up by resigning.
Tennis is a motion fight not static, therefore more variables apply. You can still win even if you are losing. (theoretically)
In chess, it's actually considered bad form to continue a match that is hopeless...conceding is considered the sporting thing to do because the inevitable can be indefinitely delayed, but in chess it IS inevitable. Not so in tennis. In tennis, as in really all athletic sporting contests, you don't give up. You just don't. Why be out there in the first place if you aren't prepared to fight to the end, or at the very least to finish the match properly? Even if it wasnt disrespectful to the opponent, it's undignified. In short, it's a p**sy move, and reflects badly on the whole sport in which 99% of its players do scratch and claw to the end, or at least gut out the loss like a man (figure of speech...it applies just as well to the WTA).

The guy is very injured, like a lot of players and watching that useless trainer they supplied him with supporting his leg on a tennis bag made me feel even more sorry for the cattle, er players.

He has just tweeted: "The past can not be changed, the future is still in your power"

I guess he thinks he is a sort of Zen Master.

I think he lost it. Maybe because the wife has banned him for adding more tattoos? Sorry couldn't refrain from that!

Too bad his power is the ancient technique of bailing out of matches.

Now also Troicki retire when he was 2 games to go, alias when he was losing 6-0 4-2 down...

He could have waited other 2 games after playing 12... It must be a Serbian thing, but Djokovic doesn't seem to be such a bad loser

Djokovic had a similar reputation a few years back. He's retired against Nadal in a couple of majors, against Coria in a major, against Roddick in a major (when Djokovic melted in the heat), against Federer in Monte Carlo.

Also, in chess it still counts as an outright win no different from being checkmated. Not so in tennis, where there is essentially an asterisk against the win.

This, right on the money.

Also against Murray in Cincinnati.
