Federer vs Tsonga - 2013 AO quarter-finals

I can't see Tsonga threatening Federer, it would be different if Tsonga was playing a grinder; if he is lucky he will be able to break him once, only to be broken himself. I vote Fed in 3.

Please, yesterday you started thread Djokovic-Berdych QF, and you said if Djokovic wins, then he definitely using PEDS. I have nothing more to say...

I don't see anyone else survive such long matches without feeling it the next day or so soon afterwards. Even Nadal is exhausted after long matches:

Nadal didn't have two days of rest in those matches you mentioned. AO 2009 final would be a logical choice , but you forgot to mention it.

He looked a bit drained in the final against Federer but his serve was at his peak and his backhand performed brilliantly therefore he didn't have to run left and right all day in order to win, also Federer handed him the match in the end which helped. Besides, his 5-hour match against Verdasco wasn't a complete grindfest, Verdasco still managed to score like 100 winners which wasn't the case in the Djokovic-Nadal 2012 AO match which resulted in tons of unforced errors.

At the 2012 AO Djokovic spent 5 hours in a grindfest against Murray, 6 hours in the final in a 2nd consecutive grindfest and he still looked fresher than Nadal at the end of that match. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

OK, believe in what you want, I don't care. But it's hypocritical to say that about Djokovic-Berdych QF, and when I'm joking about Olderer and PEDS, you're insulting me.

Tsonga is playing very well - peak level at times last week. But he's also drifting out of concentration at times too. If he does that against Fed it could be a quick one. But the big thing I've noticed is that Tsonga is coming out hot in the first set at this tournament while usually it's the opposite. First set, as always, will be the key. Fed in 4. (He's been starting hot too.)

Gotta favor Roger. The H2H is really 8-2, as the last match Tsonga won was a walk over since Roger withdrew before playing him. Before that, Roger won the previous 4 meetings. However the past 3 meetings were indoor hardcourt which i would say favor Tsonga in some ways over Fed with the serve especially. I don't think Tsonga has the consistency to take out Roger with how well he is playing.

This. At this stage in Fed's career, he can be in god mode and put on a clinic in one match and be Federror the next. It's happened too many times.

after looking at the H2H i see that roger has owned of late, and that they didn't even play once in 2012... wow.

However, as i said above... too many times i've seen him go from GOAT to just ok play match to match.

I'd rather him have donked off a set to Milos or Davy and still won the match... then see him having "used up" all his good serving and come up dry when it matters.

I do hope he wins because i am excited for a Muderer semi

Tsonga's playing pretty well so far in this tournament, and it's great to see. Still, I pick Federer in four. Tsonga may win a close set (or even blitz a set) but he's still making some rather unfounded choices in shots. Roger's looked too good so far and I don't really see him losing to Jo.

Tsonga's form is only so-so. I expect a repeat of their 2010 AO match (more or less)
