I've seen some of these ATP players train as no doubt have others. To say they constantly work their socks off to achieve superhuman levels of strength and endurance is a myth put out by them. Sure they train hard but, you know, it's not all about a gym or hitting the weights room and there's no way they work at it like bodybuilders who find it hard enough themselves to build muscular mass. When a player or his trainer says X has put on 3 kgs of muscle by working out or sticking to a diet of sushi, I start to think whether that's really the case or is it something else. The trouble is now, post-Armstrong, some of us have become such a sceptical bunch that were not prepared to swallow the fanboy titbits put out by players or their trainers to explain this or that. We've been conned too many times. And when players like Djokovic make thicko statements that the game is clean because the testing that goes on is so good and we don't really need the blood passport, well that says it all really.

I personally doubt if Djoko is doping. Of course i dont know him or his team personally, so i can't say for sure. But from what i've seen and read around the interweb - he really does train very hard, and makes alot of sacrifices diet wise to stay in top shape. Same goes for Murray.

Not everybody is as blessed as Sampras and Federer with that freakish natural ability - most have to work much harder at it. Tis not to say they are doping or they aren't, i guess time will tell, or it won't

I tend to agree with you. It's pointless and counter-productive making accusations against individuals when we don't really know, unless of course they've confessed to cheating like Agassi. What we can though come back on is inaccurate or distorted statements that players or federations make. The head of the ITF's remarks that tennis being a technical, skill-based sport and therefore inherently less susceptible to doping, being one such howler. We can also point out circumstances that give rise to suspicion. There are any number of general pointers that indicate that doping is going on everywhere so why should pockets of it at least, not be happening in a rich sport like tennis when we know it's already occurred in the past?

Roger Federer has four wins and a final. Sorry, Djokovic is NOT the greatest AO Champion. He will be one of the three along with Federer and Agassi..

Right, which is why he ran out of gas against Fed in 2005 Miami final, what a beast.

Nope, they didn't. They just happened to be right, that is all.

Plus, really, "doping is rampant in tennis"?. There isn't anything to base that on. People are just paranoid.

Yeah.
But he does even now sometimes look like he can't go on, and he can. So maybe it just looked worse than it was, and he in part just gave up. Add to that the gluten allergy and I think it's reasonable.

Plus, if he didn't want to take an unfair point in the RG final (that by the rules was his, I doubt he would be willing to go and actually cheat.

That is odd. Not his fault, but odd. I remember reading an interview with someone from the ITF saying they did do more testing on someone they thought might be doping do to "information" they had. I've got to wonder if that information comes from internet forums and TV puppet shows, since Rafa had gotten tested several times. And if anything it is Novak's stamina that is suspicious (and only that).

Sampras was a lazy bum who didn't like to train But Federer is very underrated, trust me, he trains just as hard as these other guys. You don't go uninjured for >10 years without training. It's just that his game is so smooth its deceptive.
