Try LTEC 5S Black at 46 in the mains and LTEC Flex (synthetic gut) black at 50 in the crosses. Its the best setup Ive tried in an APD GT and Ive tried many.

Question: is it better to have the mains tighter or the crosses tighter? My basic understanding was the mains so they could bite and move more against a softer cross string?

When changing strings, keep the same tension otw you will have no idea if it is the strings or you. The 2nd time you use the string, then change the tension.

Hmm, you're looking for more feel but you're going to try Tour Bite? I like Tour Bite, a lot actually, but it doesn't have much, if any feel to it. You would be better off trying Black Magic in addition to Black Widow if you want a soft poly with feel.

I just switched 1 month ago from RPM. For me it seems to have a lot more feel and easier on the arm but I recommend stringing it 2 lbs more because it looses a bit of tension especially if you have a 16/19 pattern. Or you could try doing a blend with synthetic gut or natural Hope this helps. |

If you are trying Black Widow, also try Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 17g.

Another good string for the APD is Polyfibre TCS strung at 52.

How well is the durability on this and playability? And there are 2 TCS strings theres an original and TCS rapid.

I will use it in the new 2013 APD today. Have not used this string for some months but planning to use it in a more consistent way. I use the yellow version, have never used the Rapid (white color). I've been told that the yellow version has a bit more control and is a bit crisper than the white version. Till now, TCS is the best string that works for me in the 2010 APD, I will see with the 2013 version. I suggest you try it out. Many TW playtesters like it, including Jason and Chris. Good luck! |
