I'm not sure if Vanderbilt offers any mens scholarships at all or if it is like one or two? The players I know there got nada and I remember them saying they aren't funded or aren't fully funded, can't remember. If that is the case, they are recruiting guys that want to go there way more for school I would imagine and aren't focusing on tennis at that point. It seems many are just using tennis as a way in nowadays, then sorta let it go when they get there, versus really being into it.

Nicholls State beat SMU. Pretty shocking considering SMU gave Texas a pretty good match.

I was somewhat surprised at Pepperdine's line-up, too, and would expect them to move it around this week. Tearney and Fanselow sometimes have switched off 1/2 over the last year or so. They will lose very few points at 3/4 this year, whoever they put there. 1-5 this is a very good line-up and I won't be surprised if they are the best team in the LA area at the end of the year.

It is actually nice seeing ranked teams playing each other so early in the season. Those are teams who want to improve their programs and tennis in general, not just worry about rankings. I agree, there are going to be some teams that are going to find out real fast that they have no business being in the top 25 and will be lucky to stay in the top 50. The ITA Kick-Off Weekend could prove to be an eye opening experience for quite a few teams. |

The best way to improve your ranking is play other ranked teams. Playing a bunch of unranked teams doesn't help. |

He can't play in any matches or tournaments until the Spring semester starts at Duke. I assume he'll be playing this weekend for the ITA Kickoff.
