Default SF - area tennis

HI all,

just found out the wife has a conference in SF (actually on the campus of stanford) the weeekdn fo the 25th. We are goign down a week early.
We will be hitting Carmel for sure and plan on travelling around.

I am a older 3.5/4.0 doubles guy, my daughter is a 12 year old, about 3.0, but progressing rapidly. We will be cheap bums, staying at local motel 6's and the like, so we prob can't go to the super swanky resorts where you have to be a guest to step on the facility....

Suggestions for tennis camps, super duper facilities, Tennis Warehouse campus, etc., woudl be greatly appreciated!

hello,
you should check out the courts known as Alice Marble nr Hyde Street...it's a block from Lombard street (the crooked street), you can hear & see the Cable Cars go by, and from the courts you have a spectacular view of the SF Bay, Alcatraz & Angel Island, Sausalito, as the courts are located on the crest of Nob Hill. Hard to believe, but it's a public court w/ a soft rubber like surface (easy on the knees)...
If you want pick up games, you can try the courts at Golden Gate Park or McCopin on Vicente Street.
have fun!

Problem is SF is about 30 miles from Stanford, and most folks get lost on the way, especially to NorthBeach or RussianHill.
Maybe College of Marin courts.
Some guys posted here they live in SanMateo.
I've played at those courts listed, and the McLarenPark courts too.

No, most folks get stuck in traffic to and from Stanford.

If you have a car, check out the courts on the Penninsula using this link. Stanford is on the edge of Palo Alto, so there are plenty of public tennis courts.

There are actually tons of courts on the Stanford campus itself. Some of these are often accessible by the general public. Taube Tennis Center, with 11 courts is on Campus Drive (East) near Galvez. Across the street is Taube South with another 6 courts. There are another 8 courts at the Stanford West campus courts facility. These are just off West Campus Drive (on Electioneer Road near Junipero Serra Blvd). There are other courts on the campus as well but I'm not sure if they are accessible to the general public.
