Default So awesome being a Federer fan !

Since last Wimbledon 2012 after the 17th major, 7th wimbledon , 300+ weeks at No 1 and with no one in near sight for his records, Federer is far far away from the reach of anyone.

As a result, the last few months have been incredible fun to watch Federer's matches. It is like playing on house money. You win the match , it is great. You lose, does not matter at all as anycase he has all the records.

No more worries about a point lost in tie break on serve , break point opportunities lost or backhand shanks . Just enjoying Fed's matches for the sheer magic he provides. Enjoying his on court and off court interviews with interesting comments about fellow players..

It is an " invincible" awesome feeling.

I agree! It's been a treat to see him have so much late-career success, especially after everything that's been said about him and the tough losses he's had to suffer in 2010 and 2011.

While it's true that he's accomplished just about anything, there is a certain frustration when watching him play tough matches. It's just that while the match itself is entertaining, Roger, even while losing, just gives off that illusion that he doesn't want to change tactics to win or that he's too relaxed and casual about winning. I know that's not true and that Roger gives his best in both his wins and losses, but still.

Otherwise, being a Federer fan has been a pretty awesome deal!

I'm always gutted when smugfed loses. Those tears are just too hard to bear.
Straight sets from Andy and he'll retire. Ego won't be able to take it.

It's much, much more than that, Fed has HEART, he wins by heart, tradition of the great champs, he's not a freak like Djoke or Nadal, he has HEART, heart creates creativity, the greatest trait in tennis. These other guys just go through the motions, give them trouble, and they are out.

Fed set the stage, and others have trained their tails off. Same thing really with Fed, he emulated and admired Sampras, just watched Fed beating a UNBROKEN Sampras at Wimbledon when Fed was 19!

There are MANY great athletes in many different sports, but few, as great as their physical prowness may be have the heart to create new shots, new patterns, so that's why every loves Fed.

I agree. I think his opponents like Tsonga are in disbelief as to what motivates him to keep training hard to keep advancing to the late stages of grand slams after he has all the records. Tsonga was like - "dude, you already have 17 grand slams I have none, can't you just quit already I'd be on the French Riveria if I had won 5 slams".

My point is that the rest of the field does not understand what makes Roger Federer tick.

He indeed seems very content. He's showing a lot more personality now too. Just wish his fans would be the same and not be so pressed about everything. (Obviously not all of them)

Now, a large portion of Federer's career has been spent defending his legacy against the younger players. He wouldn't be as great without all these challenges since 08. That's for sure. It was a more interesting period, even as a Federer fan, from 08 to 12 than from 04 to 07.

I heartily endorse this thread.

Also satisfying to see these pathetic loser Nadal fans burn up on the inside.

Totally I enjoy every match like its a countdown to an end of something great. Its like watching Jordan (basketball) knowing you will never see something like this in your lifetime.

I also don't like watching the Nadal match up so its a great time to be FedFan even if he loses in the first round. With you all the way

I am a Fed fan but it isn't life or death for me. It is nice to watch him play.

It's been stated a long ago that anymore win for him is just a bonus. He's already considered the top goat, there's nothing more to accomplished that is going to make the difference except widen the gap from the past legends.

Federer more fun to watch than in his prime years. The defeats(non Nadal loses), struggles, and comeback wins are entertaining.
