A proper thread without Armstrong and Mugray nonsense.

I just looked at the ranking points, and even if he wins, Murray will not only be behind Djokovic but also Federer. How could the number three player have two slams, the number two player one slam, and the number one player no slams? Crazy stuff.
I'd rather see Murray win, I think, but I'll be happy regardless. Both are going for a unique achievement. I hope we get a match as good as the one they played last year, which unfortunately I was not able to watch live. |

Hard to pick against Djokovic, but I just have this feeling Murray will get it done. Don't ask me why. I couldn't explain it even if I tried.

I'll pick Djokovic as the 65-35 favorite. Djokovic in 4. And I have no idea who to pull for. I would've normally pulled for Murray but now I can't seem to care much about who wins. I'll just watch it without any support.

You'd be a fool to bet against Djokovic but you never know if anyone can do it Murray can.

Prefer Djokovic, like him very much overall. Murray I am not a fan of, but unquestionably he is a truly great player.
Murray in 5 is my prediction. It will be yet another war.

It's a close call, slight edge to Djokovic if it goes to 5 perhaps, but then again, Murray is a physical beast now, he should be fine.
Going with Braveheart in 5 for the drama!

Very recently we have had:
Nadal reaching 8 out of 9 GS finals (from 2010 RG to 2012 RG, only failed in 2011 AO because of injury). Djokovic reaching 8 out of 10 GS finals (from 2010 UO to current AO, only failed in 2011 RG and 2012 WB losing both times to Fed in the SF) Of course Federer reaching 10 out of 10 GS finals at one point (and 8 out of 8 at another point, which gives 18 out of 19 GS finals). Now Murray is playing his third consecutive GS final... If Federer declines a bit more (because of age) and Nadal does not come back strong....we could have Djokovic-Murray GS finals many many times in the near future. And some people still don't want to know that all this is totally related to homogenization of conditions in tennis... I am not saying it is better or worse to have it like this (it depends on what every viewer prefers, I prefer variety and more than the same three players to be able to play GS finals, but other people may like to see the same players, all with basically the same style, in all GS finals all the time). |

Now that Murray isn't slamless anymore, I'm rooting for him in the final.
And picking him in 5 sets so that Djokovic doesn't get too cocky.

I hope Murray can recover and keep his focus during the match. Due to the extra rest and the level he has been at throughout the tournament, I think Novak will create more opportunities and be able to take them, unlike what happened today. I think Djokovic will take it in 4, but a competitive 5 setter is what I'm hoping for.

Djokovic in 5. These days it's sort of hard not to assume their matches will go the distance.
