Good control and plenty of spin from the Hurricane, plenty of power and comfort from the Excel string. And here's the best part: when the Excel starts to fray and breaks, it's time to change the Hurricane mains as well. It's a good indicator. hope this helps. |

Hi Ash,
The ALU Power is similar to the Hurricane, albeit a bit stiffer in my opinion. If you favour massive spin and control, put the ALU in the mains at a lower tension compared to the crosses. If, on the contrary, you want to more power and comfort, put the Excel in the mains and the ALU in the crosses. In that case, you can lower the tension of the ALU even more compared to the mains. You'll have to experiment a bit and see what works out best for you. Hope this helps. |

In terms of power the Vcore Tour 89 is at the top. Even though it's at the top in terms of power, the power is fully under the same level of control as the Ti-70 88 mid. This means easy to use power. On top of that the Vcore Tour 89 naturally generates extra spin compared to the other two that it may aid you in hitting additional winners. The MP Tour-1 mid 90 just doesn't seem to be able to match the Vcore Tour 89 in power, spin, or control. The MP Tour-1 mid seems to have more of a trampoline type of string bed, which results in the ball wanting to sail a bit more. However, this does not mean that there is more speed. As you hit the ball the MP Tour-1 mid sort of flexs at the throat and absorbs the power from your swing taking ball speed away. During this event the stringbed kind of wants to trampoline resulting in a tendancy to want to sort of "fluff" the ball over the net. The result is a less penetrating shot and a lower level of control that someone can get if they used the Ti-70 mid. The Ti-70 mid feels like you get what you put in. The MP Tour 1 feels like you get less than what you put in. Finally, the Vcore Tour 89 feels like you get a bit more than what you put in, but that power is under control. Based on my own experience I don't see any reason for myself to using the Ti-70 mid or the MP Tour-1 mid. On top of this getting grommets for the Vcore Tour 89 is much easier than those other two rackets. I don't know anyone else who compared these three rackets. If you are complaining of dead hoop im guessing you never played with Wilson or Head where the last 4 inches to the upper hoop is dead, i had to live with wilsons for a long time despite of that problem because it played better than the others although i didnt try many.
I can say the Vcore 89 has no dead spot and is pretty powerful and all string bed is useful unlike any other racket i used, the 97t ia just the perfect MP as well, no dead spots neither superb racket ill be using on clay, vcore xi 98 was very nice but too light and too powerful to my taste.

I've never used the 330g 97t before. The 310g version felt more demanding than the 89t, which was strange. |

330 is definitely more demanding and it takes a strong player with great technique to use it.

Still loving the sweet hitting with my 89T with black widow @ 52/50. Went back to my first favorite, tour bite 17@ 52/50, and got a sore elbow the day after! Hitting with it was great though!
Went back to black widow after a couple weeks rest. I may try hybriding tour bite with babolat excel or n.vy. Or wait for tour bite soft. |

The Vcore 97 310 was not difficult to use; however, I was able to hit more winners with the 89t in a match compared to the Vcore 97 310. I think the string was what ruined the playtest, so it was not a fair comparison. |

I'm using Yonex Poly Tour HS 1.30 on mine, i needed a string to last a week (4 hours hitting a day) whether dead or not, in the first 5 hours it plays very nice then it happens just like most, but I have practices with top juniors hitting heavy balls.

Good to see TonyB still with his Polystar energy @ low tension. I must thank him for introducing me to this wonderful configuration. I had a passionate love affair with PS energy @ 35 lbs on my KPS.
Perhaps it is time to try it on Vcore89. How is QC on Vcore89? Should i spend the extra $ to ask for matching service?

So it's been a while... but I finally made the switch!
Switched from the Head Youtek Prestige Mid. Definitely a better racquet in all departments. I'm still thinking about which strings to switch to. Any suggestions here? I've been considering either the Yonex Poly Spin or Volkl Cyclone. In the case of the Cyclone I am debating between the 18 or the 17 gauge. I used the 18 in my Prestige Mids but since the 89 tour is a bit more open I thought the 17 may be a bit more handy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

does the majority of you guys on the Vcore or any other Yonexs play with a dampener?
I am trying to reduce the some harshness and vibration on mine and emulate a more 'buttery and muted' feel... do believe there are silicon in the handle in mine |
