'Fed owned his own generation.' Completely disagree that Nadal & Federer aren't part of the same generation. Seles & Graf? McEnroe & Connors? Four years between the former, and 6+ yrs between the two Americans.
If that is true, then Federer picked up more slams than Nadal did, even if you count WAY after Fed's prime, since Nadal began winning slams.

If my life depended on the winner of a women's three-set match, I'm picking Serena without question.

And so would Martina, Evert, Graf -- and the rest of them.

Unsure if I catch your drift on this one.

'If that is true, then Federer picked up more slams than Nadal did, even if you count WAY after Fed's prime, since Nadal began winning slams.'

Federer's prime - 2004-2007? Nadal RG champion 2005.

'picked up more slams than Nadal did?'

2008 - Fed 1 Nad 2
2009 - Fed 2 Nad 1 (Nad absent Wim)
2010 - Fed 1 Nad 3 (Nad retired AO)
2011 - Nad 1
2012 - Fed 1 Nad 1 (Nad absent USO)

or comparing Federer '03-'07? to Nadal '05-'09?

Federer wasn't dealing with Murray & Djokovic in '05, '06 and the first 3 majors of 2007, wasn't suffering injuries at majors and major absences.

'Fed's prime' - 2009 GS results = RU, W, W, RU. Wimbledon champion 2012 - his play wasn't as great as in 2006 but Fed's prime is up to interpretation.

Actually I'm wrong here. Federer beat Djokovic AO'07, Djokovic though had achieved little at this point, well he was the title holder of Amersfoort, Metz & Adelaide and you know Murray would swap his US Open for those beauties.

I apologise for taking the thread completely off topic.

And you'd be dead, a 100% certainty, if the match was played on Clay.

Serena Williams, because she dominated players of +10 and -10 years of her age, she dominted top players on their peak, for Graf, the stab of Seles was a huge factor for the 22 slams with no other rivalry
Serenna beat Graf, Seles, Hingis, Davenport, Capriati, Henin Clijsters, Sharapova, Azarenka, Kvitova, in fact others where winning when Serena wasn't there
