Time for Laker fans to panic? Where is this big run that they have been predicting and proclaiming will occur?

Thunder, Clippers, and Spurs pretty much got the top 3 spots in the West locked up. Grizzlies and Warriors would make a great 1st round match up.

Even as a Laker non-hater, i think it's time to panic. Dantoni isn't the right guy for this team. Gotta put Pau/Dwight in the post and play inside out. This team is one good trade away, but they won't make it. They don't have enough shooters to play off their bigs. This would be an all time disaster if they miss the playoffs.

Compare Memphis to LA. Very similar personnel. I know they lost today, but would you rather have ZBo than Dwight? Marc than Pau (thats the only maybe yes). Conley than Nash? And finally, Gay than Kobe? Only thing Memphis has is depth, which is important of course, but at the top LA isn't that different if they just played a different style and slowed it down to adapt to their personnel. Bold statement: They'd be doing better if they kept Mike Brown.

Watching the Lakers play the Bulls last night, they mentioned that the former was ranked 28th in the league in offensive and defensive efficiency when BOTH Dwight and Pau were on the court. When only ONE of them was on the court, the Lakers ranked fifth in efficiency. Bottom line, it makes more sense to start Earl Clark than Pau Gasol.

I dont know how healthy dwight is at the moment. But he is not 100%. And he seems to have slacked the intensisty on D he used to have in ORL. Maybe because he is injured he cant cover ground.

His ability to basically affect everyshot within 8ft of the basket is a big reason I thought this lakers team would work. But he aint got it right now and the rest of team is old and slow. They dont have the system in place like SA on the defensive side. Mainly becuase they dont have a leader like Duncan on D.

I agree with the Mike Brown comment Dantoni is the worng fit.

Except for Kobe Byrant and maybe Steve Nash, everyone on the Lakers is tradeable. Especially Chris Duhon for jacking up 3's from way beyond the arc, with ~8-10seconds left on the shot clock.

Lakers need to go 31-12 in their remaining games to get 48 wins. That's the average for 8th place teams. Looks extremely doubtful.

Thats Dantoni's system. Mike Brown would have not tolerated that kind of play. Duhon would have been instructed to give the ball to Kobe with 10 seconds left on the clock and watch him shoot through a triple team.

Currently 12th best record in the west. Looks like houston is the 8th at the moment Lakers are 5 wins back but have played 2 less games. So they can still come on and make a run at that 8 seed.

I'm getting tired of these Lakers going to the media one after another, criticizing the team and other personnel about this and that.

Shut up and play. A little older yes, but you still have MASSIVE talent. Coaching issues or not, stand in front of the person you're supposed to be guarding. You don't need a coach to tell you that.

Sad..
After beating the Clippers, Warriors go on to barely edge out the Thunder.
We know they're not irrelevant anymore, and most teams do take them somewhat seriously.
What will happen when Bogut returns for an inside presence? Currrently looking like a 5th seed, prolly will drop below the Nuggets when the Bogut transition takes place.
If it takes place this season.

Kobe is not a team leader
Jordan used to make his teamnates better. Not Kobe.

Skip is the biggest Jordan d!ckrider there's ever been. Bottom line, Kobe is playing with scrubs in a disorganized offense. And NO ONE could overcome that.

That doesnt make his argument invalid.
I wrote it in this thread a few weeks ago: MJ would have never allowed his team to be 17-25 as Kobe is doing.

Skip is an idiot but "Kobe is palying with scrubs?" Have you not watched the game forthe last 5 years or what? Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and Ron Artest are far from being scrubs. Jordan with these guys would NOT be on 6 game losing streaks and in 12th place in the West.

Kobe is 34. What was MJ doing when he was 34?
