Pretty lousy result. Li's mental strength is going to have to improve a little more to compete with Vika on the big stages.
Man, I'd forgotten how relentlessly antagonistic, mean-spirited and dismissive of others' opinions certain people on this board are. Thought I had caught this specific person on a bad day when I cleared him or her from my Ignore List a couple days ago. Back on there.

Congrats to Vika, I was cheering for Na, but Na just needs to sort out her mental issues.

So what cheating did Aza use to win the final? Just kidding. Li Na didn 't play as well as she did in the semi and Aza didn't start well but found her groove along the way. Congrats to the #1 for a well deserved victory.

Li didn't have enough gas in tank in the 3rd set, which she threw in a lot of UFEs. It was a bruising battle while trying to overcome 2 injuries . Added that Vika played a superb 3rd set, one of the best I've ever saw.

i tried watching the full match, but couldn't. The noise was too much after the first two games. I think it was the straw that broke my back after a couple of weeks of watching WTA during this slam.
i wanted Li to win, simply because it would show that you don't have to resort to that noise to be a champion, but vika played well and deserves her title.

I guess there's no justice in the world. I suppose it was fickle of me to think otherwise after all. There's a reason why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer; life ain't fair, especially when Vika wins slams.

Tennis is not an award ceremony for people you find "nice". It just gives trophies to the people who play the best tennis. Not that Aza would be the best in absolute terms but this tournament, she played better than all her opponents. Consequently she deserved the trophy. Simple.

Just saw the replay.
I'm still not really sure why Vika was crying so much after winning this? She broke down in tears for like 5 minutes. Is it because she was ashamed of herself? She would have definitely gotten some more supporters back if she had apologized for the strategic MTO and vowed to never to abuse it again... |

They cannot stand certain players breaking the country club mode, asserting themselves, and being completely self-interested on court (part of the job). |
