Nike Dry Fit shirt: how to shrink it?

Have a large nike dry fit shirt and it's a little too loose for my taste. If I wash in hot water and dry it, will it definitely shrink? Does this material shrink at all?

No. but if you dry it hot it will melt so don't try it. Polyester not supposed to shrink like cotton.

If your Dri-Fit shirt is a blend of polyester and spandex, it can shrink a bit.

Seriously, sell it on the Bay, use it to wash your car, and just buy another one this time in the right size. Hot washing it won't shrink it, it will just damage the material.

I've lost count of the number of shirts from various manufacturers that I've bought that don't fit. I even used a pair of scissors once to cut down the length of an Adidas shirt I bought that was too big (you can imagine how that turned out....)

Nowadays if I find a shirt that fits, has a good cut / material, I just buy several of them.

i tailored a nadal rome 07 sleeveless in size L to slim fit an M.

the L is over the M.
as you can see the new L is slimmer than the standard M



the tailored L is over the M, the step you seee in the black is where the shrink took place.



the L is longer than the M

Hi! sorry to bump an old thread, but this is the "newest" one I could find on this subject...
I notice that nike's been a bit inconsistent in their sizing of their cottom/drifit blend shirts, for example 2012 summer I bought 3 shirts with the word "tennis" across it in 3 colors at size Small and they fit well. Then I got the tshirt from the fall line with the tennis court on it and it feels much much slimmer. Here are some pics:


both shirts are 58% cotton and 42% poly....
I was wondering if I might have unknowingly washed these two differently (cold or hot water) or maybe dried the thinner one with a dryer? I dont remember exactly but does anyone have both and can compare?

Nike shirts fit very inconsistently for me so not a big surprise.

Well yeah but the thing is
My primary concern is I got a drifit shirt with 60%cotton 40% poly, and its just too baggy for me, so I was wondering if washing it warm then drying it in the heater will help shrink it a bit?

i have some plain nike dri fits that are 60% cotton and 40% poly, and i've accidentally shrunk them by drying them in a drying machine.
