Default This year will belong to Djokovic and Murray

Thats was a very entertaining final between the world's two best players. If Murray was fresher and had less painful feet maybe he would've pushed it to 5...? Though I think Nole would've come through in any case. Here is a summary, as well as my conclusions for the rest of the season based on this tournament http://www.andbethere.com/2013/01/au...l-summary.html
Roland Garros will surely be the most interesting with Nadal potentially seeded fifth, and I think there everyone will be most evenly matched as Djokovic and Murray are streets ahead on hard courts...
However after that tournament I just can't see anyone but these two winning a slam this year...unless Del Potro ups his game. Him and Berdych were disappointing in Melbourne I thought, and Ferrer is underpowered to threaten anyone big, so for me, this is the rivalry that will dominate.

Yeah, I think so too. I expect Murray to finish this year ranked #2. But I believe Nadal will be a bigger factor than people think.

I agree. By the time of USO, they will be seeded 1 and 2.

I learned from my past mistake....never count Fed out. He can still make some magic.

I don't think so. He already got his second wind last year. Expect a gradual decline from now on. I think he will call it quit sooner than people expect.

RG goes to Djokovic

Murray for Wimbledon

Murray or Djokovic for USO

This year could be the first 2 players split the slams in the open era, 2 each like in 1967.

Hopefully Nadal will make his way back and compete with those two. I don't really prefer Nadal over them, but at least one guy won't have to beat Ferrer to reach Finals.

I was not disheartened as I was when Murray lost his last two AO finals. This felt more like "let battle commence". I see these Teo contesting all 4 finals unless someone comes along in the FO. Nadal won't feature.

I find their matches utterly dreadful. This is the reverse of the Sampras/Ivanisevic matches at Wimbledon. Endless rallies on nearly every point where it just comes down to the first guy to make an error...and then, the first guy to get injured (and not just playing possum, which both are likely to do as well at certain points).

They claimed the AO courts were playing faster this year, but I didn't see it. Not fast enough, guys.

i don't think you can say it's not fast enough - they're hitting the ball harder on a more consistent basis than any other player. It just happens that they are such ridiculous athletes that they get to everything, so the rallies go on and on - hardly a fault!

Yes I agree. Djokovic probably wins the French, and Murray probably wins both Wimbledon and the U.S Open, with Djokovic also having a good shot at the U.S Open. The only one I could see breaking that up is Nadal by winning one or both of the French and Wimbledon if he is back in top form in time, which is a huge if at this point.
