Tonic+
By a mile. Not even a fair competition. Just string it 2-4 lbs tighter than you normally do. Enjoy.

Hmm, but BT7 makes it borderline with synthetics. Even its playability dries up
pretty quick just like synthetics. |

I disagree. Yes bt7 makes it a little stiffer etc. but the differences are subtle compared to the non bt7.

Thanks all!
Is Tonic BT7 really so bad? And what gauge is better to use on clay - 16g or 15L |

15L is more durable, but 16 plays better. Try 16g first, and if you break it too quickly go for the 15L.

But if you use full bed, the difference is much more. Also if you use it in 18x20 and experience it in longer period of time, the playability life is much shorter compared to non-BT7. That is almost like synthetic. So in some cases, it might make sense to go much cheaper synthetic,IMHO. |

Yes. No big difference there. The 16g moves more, but don't bother. It takes some time for tonic to break in. The playability gets better and better until it breaks in my opinion. As you see from the replys above it is debateable.
