Seriously, Lovie knows defense so he could Super Mario the Bills to challenge BradyPats. Then bring in a read-option offensive guru and make Brad Smith into a more experienced RG3/Russell Wilson type. The pieces are there.

I wouldn't mind Lovie in Buffalo but, I'd want us to go with someone new and fresh. If we could get him I would like Chip Kelly. Obviously, his offense isn't going to work at this level but, I think there is something to be said about the fact that he's winning by coaching and not really constantly having top talent year in and year out.

This just adds more spice to an already hefty stew of WC weekend storylines! Houston/Cinci (two teams headed in opposite arcs) kick it off, followed by a Week 17 rematch (Vikes/Pack). Then on Sunday we've got three rookie QBs trying to put their stamp on a ticket to the divisional round. At least one (Wilson/RG3) will survive. Chuckstrong Indy on a Luck-y streak could send Ray-Ray into early retirement. Should be a whole lot of fun!

Certainly hope RG3 will be alright. There was no one around him, and knees don't bend sideways like that...
I wonder if Dr. James Andrews is telling Mike Shanahan "I told you so..." Edit: He's back on the sideline, doesn't look like he'll come back into the game though.

I like Seattle's chances this weekend...they are traveling well now and if there is a secondary that can neutralize Gonzalez, Jones & White to make the Falcons one-dimensional it's the Seahawks. The rookie Wilson already has one more playoff win than (cold as January) Matty Ice. 'Hawks 27-13 to set up a rematch with the Packers/Niners winner.

It boggles my mind how in love the media and fans are with Ray Lewis.
Plax spent two years in prison and for what? Hilariously shooting himself in the leg on accident. Lewis is at the very least an accomplice in a stabbing murder and gets a misdemeanor after agreeing to stab his buddies in the back (pun intended.)

^^^Yeah, Lewis is Teflon Man...even his teammate, Jamaal Lewis, got hammered harder for lending his cellphone to drug conspirators.
krz, your thoughts on the Marrone hire...lower profile than expected but a real strong personality to gather the locker room around and some pedigree in coaching an O-line to greatness in front of my Jet fave, Curtis Martin. I'm wishing Woodhead Johnson had dumped Wrecks Ryan in favor of a Marrone type...someone who has a clue what an offense should look like.

I'm also happy we didn't go with a retread like Whiz, Jon Gruden. They won superbowls but, I feel we need someone new and fresh. We also just signed Pettine DC from the Jets. We ran a 3-4 2 years ago and switched to a 4-3 this year. Question is will Pettine bring back the 3-4? Either way it's hard to get worse than that vanilla D Wanndstedt was running. I also wonder... and you probably know better than I do, who really ran the Jets D Pettine or Rex? I feel like we are making moves and actually trying to win now. But, being a Bills fan we know better than anyone not to get excited, every year they find a different way to disappoint their fans. The way Gailey was utilizing Spiller this year was infuriating, everyone except knew what was wrong except Gailey. Heck, he probably knew he was just too stubborn to admit it.

^^^The first two years of Wrecks' watch was really an easy transition from his role as DC @ Baltimore...he had Scott and Leonhard to run things right on the field. Then they dumped Leonhard due to season-ending injuries and Scott started aging so the "D" was more in Pettine's hands...good at times but vulnerable to home-run plays, both rushing and passing.
Pettine will be a better fit in Buffalo than Wannstedt and I think he'll know better how to scheme for the talents he will manage...your secondary is strong enough to allow some "exotics" in the game-plan. Look for Mario to be a little more "super"! Re: Spiller usage...don't expect Marrone to ignore his talent but he is more of a power-oriented, zone blocking kind of devotee. Jackson, if he is healthy, deserves and will get the bean between the tackles to keep a balance and, hopefully, set up CJ for the long ball.

He was recently quoted as saying what he said was taken out of context. Nothing he said could have been taken out of context it was pretty clear. Sent with my nexus 7

So Randy Moss thinks he's the greatest WR of all time....
I'm not even sure I'd rate him in the top 10. Jerry Rice Steve Largent Michael Irvin Tim Brown Cris Carter Art Monk Marvin Harrison Torry Holt Isaac Bruce Donald Driver Reed Mark Clayton Fitzgerald Terell Owens and a few others would get my nod over Randy.

I've been watching 49'ers since 1957.
Moss is Irvin, Bruce, Clayton, Larry, and Owens level for sure. He's well above lots of others. Brown is only a possession reciever, and FredBlitz might be better. On the 49'ers, Moss is no where near the level of any of those guys, because he doesn't make the effort to go for a ball that is not perfectly thrown to him...like Vernon. Mario, Crab, and that other tight end would sacrifice their bodies to make the EFFORT to catch the ball. |

Donald Driver and Mark Clayton? hahahah you gotta be joking? He had a bad attitude some seasons but Randy Moss is better than everyone on that list besides Jerry Rice IMO. The only ones you can really put ahead of Randy would be Jerry and maybe Don Hutson.

Duiper and Clayton had the advantage of Marino as QB.
Driver had Favre. Montana and Young had nowhere NEAR the arms of those QB's. Notice no team even tried out Owens on his attempted comeback. Blackball by the league! Most top recievers had a threat on the other side. Taylor was Rices. |

Moss had the talent of an all-time great. Tall, fast, pioneered/re-invented catching the under-thrown pass. But his attitude, lack of desire and intensity, pouting when the ball wasn't thrown enough at him, lax attitude towards blocking folks, unwillingness to run up the middle... knock him down a few pegs. I'd even call him a huge underachiever. He couldn't win with a peak Culpepper, Cris Carter, a healthy Robert Smith, and that high-powered offense. Not to mention racking up stats on the Patriots, but was mostly M.I.A. in the Super Bowl.

GOAT WR without a doubt is Jerry Rice, he is the only player to be considered unanimously(for the most part) as the best ever at his position. He's Gretzky NFL style. With that being said, I don't think we have ever seen a receiver change the game and have the ability to take over a game like Randy Moss did when he first came into the league. If he was able to fully commit himself, put in the effort and go over the middle, I don't think it's a far stretch to say he'd at least be in the conversation as best ever.
