Mayotte sure would make an ideal coach for someone like Young or Harrison, this man is a very intelligent brilliant tennis mind, former top 10 player, Wimbledon QF. He now works with two other coaches in the NYC area in the private sector.

You would think Tim Mayotte could do a good job coaching some youngster. I remember the guy from the early 80's, solid top ten player for a while, big server, good volleyer, that was his game, loved the grass courts and faster surfaces generally. I liked his demeanour on the court too.

Tim reached the semis at Wimbledon and the Australian as well as being a Dallas finalist.Great and solid player, and also known as Gentleman Tim.he was quite similar to Todd Martin, although Martin was a more complete player.

Tim was a class player and human being. I read an interview with him recently and he has immense wisdom of the game and stroke mechanics. If he had the political connections, he could really help jump start American tennis IMO.

In the 1980īs someone described him as the perfect boyfriend the mothers would like their daughters to have...

Tim Mayotte has a lot to offer any tennis player, can really see him helping Harrison.

mayotte used to frequent an eatery on the upper west side while attending the theological seminary at columbia. always a gentleman who was extremely soft-spoken and projected calmness and complete self-control. it always struck me that even when he wore dress shoes and moved about, not even his footsteps created a bit of noise. certainly a contrast to the players of the mid-eighties and early nineties like mcenroe, connors, gilbert who all seemed to have grating personalities.

Sounds like a small, expensive operation. They list the times of the clinics and the teacher to student ratio, however; prices are "furnished upon request." Anyone know? Is this near Johny's McTennis academy?

His Wimbledon record is amazing: from 81 to 89 never beaten before the Last 16
Too nice a guy to go all the way though Great record as well at the WCT finals and AO

"he reminds me of an earlier version of todd martin"
Agreed. Martin, Mayotte and Jim Grabb all played very similar to me and were three of the most boring games I've seen over the years. Re kiki's point. I don't think being "too nice" precludes you from going all the way at a Major and my evidence is M. Orantes. |
