It was the prototype of the Max300i.

Probably this was the proposed name, as it featured Noryl GTX in its layup/mixture.

Come on then VSB, do i have to beg to see the photo; your photos in the old threads have all disappeared, so I can't even find a photo of it now
Please show it again here, I'm going to get very jealous, but we would all like to see it again I'm sure! (Oh, and by the way that's not the only prototype of the max300i

Great point, amazingly I've never noticed the "GTX" bit before, probably because we haven't seen VSB's prototype for so long we've forgotten what the max200GT looks like and I couldn't make the connection!

You know, fellows, I saw a bit of a movie recently, of a guy talking in his office and on his wall was a baseball bat.
I've decided to hang a 200G on my office wall, a grand memento.

Superb thanks
Havn't seen it for ages, what an amazing looking racket, really like the fact the "GT" is in solid gold print! Am I correct in saying the racket has a gloss clear coat sprayed on at some point? The finish is clearly very shiny, as opposed to the matt but smooth finish on the max300i.

So are the differences between your Max200GT prototype and the Max300i as follows:-
It says "Max200GT" on it. It has a shiny gloss clear coat, as opposed to a smooth matt finish. It has no registered "r" between the "noryl" and "GTX" on the hoop. It has the exact graphics of the 1986/87 version of the Max200G on both sides of the racket (which includes the John McEnroe signature on one side). It has 7 white lines on the white chevron, as opposed to 11 white lines on the chevron of the max300i. It is the coolest racket I have ever seen, and I've never seen another one of these, it is definitely the first finished prototype for the Max300i and is probably unique!

you mention that most 200G's are Black as a main colour except the Teal ones and some of the Pro's. However, I can remember that the later 200G's are black at the bottom than slowly merge into a dark racing green from the bottom of the head up to the top. Does this mean there is yet another version?

It's the "grafil injection" versions that do this (on the hoop merges black to dark green at top of the racket), but only the "Pro" versions I think, from 1990-92. So not actually a new version. Does anyone have a non-Pro "grafil injection" version that does this?
