I understand they do the rankings based off the fall season because they want guys to play the fall and if they didn't then certain players/coaches would protect certain players rankings by not playing them. It's just not a realistic ranking.
If anything the singles rankings shouldn't come out until the end of January after they have some matches under their belt. |

I like your concept. Obviously it would require a ranking system based on points won per match. Maybe some tournaments in the fall get extra weighting. I'm not the person to come up with that system. Seriously, you or someone here should come up with it. The tough part is getting the coaches to then buy into it, vote, approve then implement. They are more concerned about bathroom break penalties and wind speed rules.

New team rankings are out and the Top 4 stays the same with Pepperdine jumping up to 5, Duke falls from 5 to 9, Kentucky up 2 spots to 7, Tulsa up 5 spots to 17, Baylor down 4 spots to 18, Illinois moved up 6 spots to 19, Wake Forest up 13 spots to 36, and the mighty Crimson of Harvard dropped 20 spots to 47. Georgia and Oklahoma didn't move any despite their losses.
If the ITA uses these rankings for the National Indoors these will be the matchups: 1. Virginia vs. 16. Washington 8. Oklahoma vs. 9. Duke 4. Ohio State vs. 13. Cal 5. Pepperdine vs. 12. Ole Miss 6. Georgia vs. 11. Florida 3. UCLA vs. 14. Tennessee 7. Kentucky vs. 10. Mississippi State 2. USC vs. 15. Texas A&M Wouldn't shock me if they flipped Duke/Mississippi State to avoid one less all SEC matchup. |
