Irvin, the OP's budget can afford a gamma 6004, what would be your recommendation, given he was a home stringer?

That will depend on how many rackets he is going to string. If I did not have a machine and I wanted an affordable stringer for low use it would surely be a drop weight.
If I were going to be stringing 3 or 4 rackets a day very often it sure would not be on an X2 or KM. to me that would be miserable. If I want a good travel stringer to string several rackets a weekend every once in a while then an X2 or KM would fit the bill nicely though. There is a place and market for all kinds of stringers.

FWIW... TW strings all their racquets on Neos 1000s (not even the 1500).

For all the MRTs on the TW staff, I've had people bring me TW demos for restringing, and the TW stringing didn't look so good. Then again, they have a little MRT factory churning out MRTs there, and the MRT qualification only means so much.

When it comes to mass production, it is hard to retain discipline. The result would be compromised.
