Adidas Climalite stinks

So the family members know that I play tennis and that I sweat a lot, so the new Christmas and Birthday go-to gifts seem to be whatever dry fit type sporting apparel they find on sale.

At this point in my life I have a few Nike's, but mostly cheap Reebok and Champion stuff from the discount club and target, respectively. I love the polyester shirts and refuse now to play in cotton. In my experience they all pretty much perform the same, some are just smoother to the touch.

So this year, somebody gets me 2 Adidas climalite shirts. I wear one to my Wednesday league match.

Man these things suck. I'm friggin soaked and it's cold in this indoor court. Usually the sweat is gone so my body heat is fine considering I'm running around.

Sweat is pooling in odd places all over the damn thing. Might as well have worn a cotton shirt. All the sweat seems to be on the right side, like some sort of funnel action is happening.

So, all polyester sports shirts seem to be the same, except for these Adidas, which suck.

Did you wash them before wearing? If not, perhaps they were clogged up from the manufacturing process. My Climalite hats dry far quicker than my dri-fit ghoats.

Didn't wash before wearing. We'll see what happens next time around. I'm bringing a spare shirt just in case.

Make sure to use less detergent than with regular cloths, use extra-rinse setting and cold wash. Remove as soon as cycle is complete and either line dry or, if using the machine, use low heat and no dryer sheet/softener.

If the shirts still suck after this then there's no excuse.

I've been washing my polyester shirts in the regular wash and drying them with fabric softener sheets for years.

I know everyone says this ruins them....I haven't found that to be the case at all. They still work fine for me, and I sweat ridiculous amounts, especially during the summer.

The best way to wash the workout stuff is to use WIN or Penguin Sports wash on delicate and then line dry.

Not all Climalite or Drifit is the same. I wish I could articulate the differences, but some of my Nike stuff is light like paper and the breathability of the fabric is just about clear to the eye, whereas some of their polyester is like a garbage bag and absorbs nothing. Adidas doesn't seem as inconsistent on this. Under Armour is overall the best in my opinion.

I had the same experience as you -- with a shirt that was also ClimaLite, but somehow, the fabric was completely different: it did not allow air movement in or out. It was a nightmare. It turned out that shirt was meant to be for golf. I do not have these problems with their other shirts, which are meant for tennis, and are "breathable".

Why do you say Under Armour is good overall? They dont have much variety though. Anyone use Yonex?

Yes I wear a lot of yonex. Some years their shirts are cooler than others. But they all have "very cool" which lowers the body temp by up to 3 degrees. But all in all I love Yonex.

I might also add that I do wear some Lotto also. They have all been good for heat and sweating.
