Nadal never beat fed easily with that strategy maybe except for clay. It was always a fight. assuming nadals FH is like a lefty kick serve as they say. 20 lefty kick serves in a row to anyones BH is just very difficult. Obviously nole was able to handle, which is why he won those string of matches

Nadal doesn't beat him with 1 simple strategy. That's a myth said by people with their heads up their asses.

Nadal beats him in a variety of ways, including playing incredibly annoying defense that forces Federer into errors. Federer's inside-out forehand plays right into Nadal's forehand down the line, which is Nadal's best weapon. When Federer hits a backhand down the line, Nadal is usually there to take it cross court with his own backhand, as being a lefty, he plays more towards his backhand corner. Federer's cross-court backhand plays into Nadal's forehand down the line.

Plus, there's Federer's passiveness on break points, going against Nadal, who is aggressive when staving off break points.

Heck, Federer's backhand has hurt Nadal quite a bit over the years, too. Just look at their indoor matches. Federer killed Nadal with his BH in those.

Federer's backhand is also the strongest of any man who's won 17 slams, so I don't really see your point.

Carlos Moya and it isn't even close. His backhand was just awful. His solution was to just not hit any backhands

He made up for it by having a top 10 serve and a top 3 forehand, possibly even better than Federer or Nadal. Ridiculous forehand.

Great skill too, although he didn't use it that often. I remember Murray tried to do his cat and mouse thing with Moya and Moya just made Murray look stupid. Same thing happened with Stepanek around the same time.

I'd put the effectiveness of S. Graf's backhand up there with the top of her time.

Federer's backhand used to be clear weakness in his early years at tour.
People pounced on it and improved a lot. Federer now has a great backhand.
I am not sure if I can call it as weapon that can frequently force an issue,
but great backhand.

Lots of 1 handers have weakness against lefties. It just one of the toughest shots in tennis.
For example, it's extremely hard to hit down the line 1 handed
backhand, from ad court, against heavily side/top spined lefty's forehand.

It used to be a frightening weapon back in his younger days. Now, it is just a shot that keeps him in rallies.

Frightening weapon? This gem is right up there with the other utterly absurd claims you have made in the past.

Nadal's backhand passing shot used to be the best in his younger days. He could pull off backhand winners from ridiculous positions on the court. It was definitely a frightening weapon.

Federer's backhand passing shots were outstanding as well, yet you call it weak. lol.

Nadal's backhand was a "frightening weapon" in his younger days? GTFO. He couldn't hit anyone off the court with it. Blake used to ravage his backhand on a regular basis. Even Hewitt used to pick that shot apart in order to avoid Nadal's forehand.

Blake was extra brutal with Nadal. Once he hit a powerful shot to Nadal's backhand, he used to move 5 feet inside the court and Nadal retreated 5 feet behind the baseline.

When was that? Moya and Murray only met twice (2006 Toronto and 2008 Cincinnati) and Murray won both times! On the other hand, Moya is 3-1 v Stepanek.

Fed's backhand = Sampras' backhand?

HAHAHAHAHAHA. No.

Yeah Nadal's backhand is pretty average, especially considering his playing style (grinder, LONG baseline rallies). Certainly the weakest of the top 4's backhands. He has probably the best or 2nd best forehand of all time to make up for it though.

Worst or Ugliest? I've always though McEnroe had one of the more un-orthodox and strange/ugly back hands but he was fairly consistant and made for some very awkward angles and slices with that backhand.

it sounds like we are finding out you need to have a bad backhand to win a GS. J/k i know nole has a beast on that side as was agassi and many other gs winners.

But dudes with good bhs like warinka, davy, and nalbandian dont go anywhere near a gs title. I know davy has a few 1000s and SFs but don't feel he ever came close.
