Day 1 of red alert mains and cofocus crosses went rather well. Excellent feel..solid spin and control.

I need to log more time with it, but this is a real nice setup.

Have to admit, all of the subsequent sets I have bought have been pink. Pink Alert! Common Wilson--lets get back to "RED" Alert. The strings do have more texture than the promo set I got prior to it being released.

If Reggie Jackson was a tennis player he'd be using Red Alert.

Epic.

I don't get it. Pink?
All of mine is just as red, if not darker, than TF RedCode.

Mine is definitely red, but read as in cheap plastic red. I'm not fond of the color, but its performance is great considering its price. Done it full-bed (initially great, and still not bad after it went soft) and hybrid (@cross with Polystar Energy 17 @main - great setup for 5+ hours already).

Interesting. No one has told me about it going soft.
They say it plays fine until, BLAM!, three mains pop at once.

I crossed mine with poly and it played great. The spin was average, but the feel was amazing. It broke in 5 or 6 hours without warning, just popped, but all the mains had deep notching in them.

Perhaps because I'm not really a powerful player, my game relies more on control and placement. What I realized was when I got less spin and control the string moved more than before. Right now the racquet rests in my bag as my secondary, I guess it even softer now - I'll try playing with it next time.

Are you guys stringing this at the same tension you would for any other syn gut or are you dropping it a couple pounds because of it's stiffness?

Yeah, string tension like a normal syngut.

I just helped my friend strung her racquet using Red Alert, and to my surprise it was truly red color unlike mine. I don't whether it's because of different production dates or there's problem with Wilson quality control. Can't say anything about performance differences since her racquet is 110 sq" while mine is 15 sq" smaller.

I've been using Red Alert for a few hours. Mine is a deep red just like the set I bought last year. This time the strings are leaving red marks on the ball. Weird.

My son uses a couple of different stringings. Primary racquets are poly main/syngut cross, tension right at the mid-point of his racquet (58 pounds on racquet that recommends 53-63 pounds), and usually has 2-3 racquets in the bag like this. He also has one backup racquet that is strung differently for occasions when you are having one of those days when your touch is off and you need to try something different in desperation. Typically, this is a Wilson Hollow Core syngut at 60 pounds. Hollow Core is also the syngut used on the crosses of the hybrids.

What do you think about replacing Hollow Core with Red Alert on either of these setups? Does anyone have experience with both Hollow Core and Red Alert?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I got tempted and bought a set for my girlfriend, she plays only with syn gut DF and doesnt like other strings.

Red Alert was extremely stiff first hour at 26 kg tension. Second hitting it went softer and plays like Prince syn gut but doesnt move that much atm. It is more crisp atm.

In her Prince Ignite team its looking marvelous, nice color as blood is.

Strung two identical racquets at 58 pounds with full bed Wilson Red Alert in one and Wilson Hollow Core syngut in the other. My son hit about 50 balls from a ball machine with one, then immediately did the same with the other. He had a very strong preference for the Red Alert. The strings moved around a lot on the Hollow Core and did not snap back. The strings stayed in place on the Red Alert, and he felt a lot more control and directional accuracy with the Red Alert.

Hollow Core has now been relegated to use only in crosses of a hybrid string job with poly mains, based on the fact that even fans of Red Alert don't recommend it in hybrids.

When I strung Tourna BHB7 it left black marks on the ball, which was also weird, but I imagine that red marks would look weirder. I might have to try Red Alert just for that.

Bump
This is good stuff.
It has a lot going for it.
If you can break it in less than 3 weeks, you're ready for poly.
