Which current players on tour can average well over 100 mph on 2nd serves?

I was checking out some statistics from Wimbledon 2003. Mark Philippoussis was averaging 108 mph on his second serves the whole tournament. You also had Sampras serving 110 mph 2nds on average against Federer.

Which current pros go for that much on 2nds?

I recall that Sampras averaged 115mph on second serves in his 2001 US Open no-breaks QF victory over Agassi. Then he averaged 85mph against Hewitt in the final. I suspect it had something to do with the back-to-back SF-F format. If it weren't for that, I think Sampras probably would have shown up with his full-strenght 2nd serve and handled Hewitt no problem.

When Stanislas Wawrinka is in teh zone he can serve around 160-180kmh on his second serve, as we saw at the Aus open last month against Djokovic his second serve was around 165kmh-180kmh for about the first 2 sets.

Satin had a huge second serve, Roddick and Milos too

Sampras used to average around 115-120 MPH on second serve with the old radar gun with his old Wison Pro Staff...

karlovic does always serve over 100 with the second. Not sure about isner.

lol, wut ? sampras avged 103 mph on his 2nd serve vs hewitt, not 85 mph...hewitt was in the zone in the SF and the final and he handled sampras easily ... it was sampras' tough draw (rafter, agassi & safin ) that made him vulnerable ...

it didn't have that much to do with the SF and F on consecutive days ( he had only a ~2 hr match vs safin in the SF )

even with an easier draw for sampras, it'd have been closer, but hewitt would still have beaten him ....

and if anything the back-to-back SF-F format helped sampras in 2002 when the SF vs hewitt tired agassi ...

Raonic, Isner, Anderson and Karlovic are almost a given.

Chardy surprisingly averages over 100mph quite often.

Harrison, Dimitrov, Berdych and Federer hit second serves pretty fast, pretty sure they've averaged over 100mph on a few occasions.

Roddick if you count players that are still ranked.

Monfils on his crazy double-faulting spree at the Australian Open got close, averaging 98mph against Lu.

no, he didn't, that was in 2000 when he beat hewitt in straights

vs hewitt 2001 he was 110 mph on 1st and 95 mph on 2nd

compare that with previous 3 rounds

vs rafter 120 on 1st, 103 on 2nd
vs agassi 115 on 1st, 105 on 2nd
vs safin 116 on 1st, 102 on 2nd

vs hewitt in 2000 118 on 1st, 103 on 2nd

huge drop in speed for 2001 final

i think this clearly shows that sampras was dead tired in 2001 F - add hewitt's in the zone play and you get double breadstick

put sampras from 2000 sf against 2001 hewitt and it would be close (say, 60-40 that hewitt wins, but in a competitive match)

what? he averaged 100-110mph most of the time, and that was at the end of his career

he used heavy kickers much more than many seem to remember during his prime, except in wimbledon... he would save big 2nd serves for certain moments, instead of serving them all the time

i remember in the 04 or 05 wimbledon final between Federer and Roddick, Roddick was averaging 135mph on first and 125mph on second.

Yes, I know many pros who average close to or a little over a 100 mph sometimes, but that is not what I'm talking about.I'm talking well over a 100 mph. Like over 105 mph regularly. Federer was serving 102 mph in one match at Wimbledon last year. Mark Philippoussis hit at least 108 mph on average in every match he played (his top was 110 mph).

Wesley Moodie averaged well over 100 mph. 110 was not unheard of, and he's averaged 115 in several matches.

Feliciano Lopez tends to be around the 103-105 mark quite often. Same with Isner and Raonic. Llodra as well.
