to prolong his career and stay healthy. If so would atp ban him for not playing mandatory tournaments on hardcourt? I know of a Swedish player in the past that only played on clay due to knee problems, Kent Karlsson, i dont think he was ever fined, but this was in the 80s i think and the rules might have been different.....

I think he should focus the rest of his career on doing everything he can to win the French and Wimbledon and should put all of his energy in preparing for these tournaments.
He should still play other major tournaments, but he shouldn't try and destroy himself when he plays them. He should play ultra aggressive on the harder surfaces and avoid trying to get every ball back. |

That would be smart, Rafa should (as much as he can) avoid hard surfaces.
Rafa is smart enough to realize that there is a life beyond tennis, so keep himself healthy is a goal.

no need to avoid hardcourts entirely, just change strategies a little.
he can come in more on hardcourts, hit flatter more often and try to shorten points.

really? well if his ranking falls far enough he could face Djoker in the 4th rd or QF. I don't think he'd like that much. We all know he plays better as a tournament progresses, especially at Wimby.

No they don't believe that. nadal's fans believe he will play like he's in his prime till he's 40. They don't understand that a player declines as he ages. It's only natural.

Yeah I know. Pretty strange that. They just don't have the wisdom that Federer fans do. I keep trying to tell them, but they don't listen obviously.
