I currently use Adidas Barricade 7's. They usually last me around 6-7 months. I am wanting to try a lighter shoe and from what I gathered the Adidas Feather 2 is more durable than the Nike Vapors. Is this true? How long will the Feathers 2 last me if I get 6-7 months out of my Barricades? Are there any other lightweight shoes that are durable (for a lightweight shoe)?
Thanks! |

What about the new Nike Air Max Cage? They're pretty light and offer a 6-months guarantee (So I assume they're supposed to be durable?).

I looked into those but apparently they sit pretty high off of the ground.

The cages sit about as high as a CB if that helps at all. They are in fact very light (to me at least). Quite comfy as well.

New Balance 996 would be an option. Lightweight and very low to the ground. I had the old 851 and have a pair of 996's waiting for my current shoes to wear out. Durability depends on who you ask. I got around 5 months or so out of the 851 playing 3-4 times a week. They also come with a 12 month warranty so you are basically buying 2 pairs for $100.

Most people would probably say to change the insoles in the 851 or 996. They are fairly flat, with the 996 looking like they added a bit more support. I had no issues with my 851's and was happy to get a year to wear them out if necessary. I like the Feathers but I just can;t bring myself to pay that kind of money for a shoe that doesn't have any kind of warranty. 12 months means I can let my new 996's stay in the closet until I really need to switch and they will still have warranty time left.

Not as good as B7 obviously, but better than vapors. Somewhere in the middle between the two.

I personally found the feathers less durable than the vapors on the outsole but the leather upper i found to be better than the vapors because they don't get soft like the vapors after a few weeks its kinda like wet card board but the max cage which I am currently using seems to fit my needs well only problem is a little heel slip which was fixed by an alternate lacing

Currently using the new Wilson Rush Pro. For me a great fit, cushioned, low to the ground and they play even lighter than their listed weight. I've gone through six pair of Vapor 9's and was looking for a more durable and cushioned shoe with that same performance fit. I've found it in the Rush Pro.
Like any pair of shoes, it has to fit your foot, not mine. But if it does, you will be very pleased. FYI I did try the Nike Cage and gave them away after wearing them twice. |
