It's a WTA tournament so probably about 46000 points which is enough to secure the year end #1 for about 6 years.

These Premier 5s go as follows:
900 620 395 225 125 70 1 By the way, that's a really stupid system the WTA uses - after Slams you have Premier Mandatorys (1000), Premier 5 (900), Premier (470), and Internationals (280). They should have named them ATP style, with the winner's points as a part of the name. It's easier to understand. |

After all that, Vichtoriaus got the reverse bagel on Oprah to win 6-2 in the first and is now 4-1 up. Girl not messing about, must be a sale on at United Colors of Benneton.
Stephens about to drop out, shame; she's super cool. Ursula is threatening to come out of her sisters shadow for a little bit and is 1 set up against Vinci. The All-Rad Final is still on, folks. |

GSM Zakopalova. Shame for Stephens, fought back from 5-1 down in the TB to 5-5, then lost 7-5.

Shows she is overrated. People were hailing her the next big thing after she won that Serena match at the AO, a match she would have never won had Serena been healthy.

interesting how not one of the tennis experts who were there at the australian open and who could see s.williams in person and close up said anything but "I can't see past serena," when asked to predict the winner. iow, in their opinions, s.williams was healthy enough to win ..... same thing they said before she got knocked out of wimbledon and us open 2011 and miami 2012, when she got beat by Bartoli, Stosur and Wozniacki respectively.

Stephens needs to learn how to close. she needs to 'cowboy up!'... or cowgirl up rather...
maybe try to volley/come in once in a while in key games. could do well to look at aggressive players (especially 'closers') on the mens side in particular... federer, sampras, borg? etc... they know how to go for the kill. or maybe even ferrer in terms of keeping pressure on in key points (doesn't choke, ever). i can't think of equivalents on womens tour. possibly navratilova? maybe Serena, but she has a different style, 'gets all up in her opponent's grill' so to speak. I doubt that it would suit sloane's temperament though. she has potential, but needs to realise that she can be a 'nice' and still be able to close when needed. it doesn't have to be either or.

Alright! Some interesting matches today,
AgRad vs Ivanovic is the most interesting one I think, as well as Woz vs Barthel. I kind of fancy Ivanovic to upset Rad (although I don't think she's ever beaten her?), and Woz vs Barthel seems a bit of a coin flip, as does Kvitova vs Petrova. Interested to see if Ursula can get any change at all out of Serena, and who can resist the alure of the World Number 1 opening her wings (and her vocal chords) against someone barely in the top 50. It's feeding time for Vich. |

I predict 3rd round victories for; S. Williams, M. Sharapova, P. Kvitova, V. Azarenka, S. Kuznetsova, D. Hantuchova, M. Barthel and A. Radwanska.
