I understand Prince filed for protection under bankruptcy laws,, Are Prince tennis balls now gone for good ? Top retailers dont carry them anymore. Prince had some good tennis balls, Is this going to extend to all Prince products- no longer available ?
Are warranty claims gone as well ? Last edited by 3fees : 12-19-2012 at 02:44 PM. |

I ran into this problem too. A case of Prince balls is a constant on my Christmas list. We couldn't find them this year though. Prince is certainly forcussing on racquets, bags, and shoes after the bankruptcy reorganization. There is plenty of evidence of that alone on Prince's twitter feed. The balls may have been a casualty.

So what are the fans of Prince Tour balls using now ? I have tried the new Penn ball, Volkl, Dunlop and Wilson. The Volkl is the closest I have found but still not as durable and they feel somewhat harder.
Played a match yesterday with my last can of Prince balls, at the end of the match my opponent says, "these are great, where can I get some ?"

The frustration with this continues.
Thought I found the answer via Volkl. Balls made in Thailand too and looked very similar. Alas, they are not as good as the Prince Tour Extra Duty. In fact, the Volkls just felt like rebranded Dunlops, which are too hard and heavy. Closest I have found is the Pro Penn Marathon, but still not the same. Prince spending so much money promoting its other stuff, constantly posting on Facebook about Ferrer, Taylor Townsend, etc. Annoying. Just put the balls back on the market please. |

If you liked Prince balls, don't be certain you'll like them if they reappear. The Prince guru noted above they are trying to find a new manufacturer (probably because the old one had to eat a lot of accounts receivable because of the bankruptcy) so there's no certainty at all that the balls will be comparable.

^ Good point but I hope that this is not the case.
I have seen some of the other Prince balls in the shelves in the past year or so but have not seen my all-time favorite Prince Tour balls for quite some time. However, the Tour balls are currently on the Prince Tennis web site. I do not know how long they've been on the Prince site but I am hoping that this is a good sign. http://www.princetennis.com/tennis/f...y.aspx?cid=377 |
