I just published the interview with Steve Johnson. He is a great man; I hope he will reach all his goals.

Just going back to serve and volley and the net game generally many will know that I am a great believer in kids having an all court game because there are thousands of kids who can bash the ball from the baseline but only a handful who can break that up by mixing up their own game and taking the baseliners out of their comfort zone.
A great way of practising that is of course in doubles where the kids should learn to serve volley first and second serves and generally control the match from the net. They have to know that the results in junior doubles are not as important as improving their game. If they do that combined of course with good volley technique ,net play positioning and strategy the results will come in time and it will filter though to an extra skill set they can use in singles from time to time.
It is very sad when kids play doubles with 2 back and parents / coaches should encourage them to try something different.

The problem is some coaches don't know how to teach the serve and volley. Another coaches think that the serve and volley left in the past. Finally, feeding balls from the baseline is easier for many coaches.

Well I agree that is very true but I guess its a case of how much the parents want to find one that can. And it needs to start early because if you try to become a net player at 16 it's way more difficult than if you start at 10.
