I have two questions.
What is the record for most consecutive sets won on a surface? What is the record for most consecutive sets won at a specific tournament? Obviously this would have to span over multiple seasons. |

Nadal won 32 consecutive sets at the French Open, from the 2007 final to the 2009 4th round. I'm pretty sure that's a record.
[EDIT] I stand corrected (see below).

Fed won 30 straight at the Aussie Fed won 34 straight at Wimbledon Lendl won 26 straight at the US Open Those are the records for the 4 majors since 1972 (according to Wikipedia) Not sure about stats before that or specific surfaces. I would guess Nadal is up there on clay along with guys like Borg, Vilas and several others. |

Was going to post about Borg, but don't get how fed could have won 34 consecutive sets at wimbledon when he never won it without dropping a set. maybe its 34 matches. EDIT.Oh wait I see. If you won the last 6 matches of a slam without dropping a set and the next first six the next year you could get up to 36 sets for instance.

I believe Federer or JMac has the record for consecutive sets won across all surfaces. I'm trying to check it, but the service on the ATP site is down.

Just looked it up. Borg has the record for consecutive sets won not accounting for surface as far as I can tell. Didn't check for Laver or anyone before him, and I'm not exactly answering one of the questions, but I thought it was interesting.
Borg won 39 sets in a row between the WCT Invitational, and Las Vegas in 1980 on a combination of clay, HC, and carpet. John McEnroe has 35 consecutive sets won, as well as another streak of 30 in 1984. Federer has 29 consecutive sets won, and Nadal has 28. Djokovic's longest streak as far as I can tell is 18. And I believe Nadal holds the record for most consecutive sets won on a surface. EDIT: If I haven't missed anyone, I believe Borg holds this record as well. 39 in a row.

No, Djokovic's streak is much better:
AO 2011 2R Djokovic-Dodig 7-5 6-7 6-0 6-2 AO 2012 4R Djokovic-Hewitt 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-3 So that would be 26.... *Djokovic-Troicki AO 2011 3R 6-2 Troicki ret.

The great clay contender vs. Rafa that was never to be.
If he'd won Rome 2005... who knows what wouldve happened at the FO.

Tennis certainly missed out when Coria's career was cut short by the service yips. Still, he looks happy in recent photos I've seen of him. He and Carla have a young son. Nice to see that he looks happy and isn't lamenting the past after having so many tough moments in his career.

yes, Federer has the record for most consecutive sets won at all grand slams with 36 from 2006 US Open final to 2007 French Open quarterfinal. McEnroe is second at 35. Borg and Nadal are tied at 28. Djokovic's best is 22.
