Default those days

What do you do when you lose and you really just don't feel like playing anymore. You really just wanna take all your tennis stuff and smash it on the ground.

I lose often, but losing doesn't bother me as much as playing poorly. And when I play like crap I do feel like giving up the game, tossing all my gear in the dumpster. So I empathize.

But if I lose to someone who is simply better, no big deal as long as I played well. And to me, playing well simply means going for my shots and not playing tentative. Sometimes more balls will land in, some days not.

Two weeks ago I got bageled. It didn't bother me one bit. That set was still super fun. I guess it all comes down to perspective. Put some spin on your outlook and see things differently.

Hope this helps. If not, just know that you're not the only who has felt this way. A lot of us have been there.

Easy, just take all your tennis stuff and smash it on the ground!

Seriously though, think about why you lost and what you will do differently next time. Some basics:
If there was some deficiency in your game figure out what it was and work on it in practice. Very few tennis player seem to get actual practice time to work on things - for some reason many players seem to think they will magically just overcome it somehow or come up with shots they don't own without working on it. You need to practice!
Think about what your opponents weaknesses are and how you can attack them next time. If you lack the shots to do so, go back to step 1.
Come up with more than 1 game plan.

Sometimes you learn more when you lose, if you approach it right.

I dunno.... what it says to me is that you need to find some technique or tactic that allows you to find some success on the days you are not playing so well.

Instead of looking for the wins that aren't there at the moment, focus on something achievable during the next game... a ten shot ralley, complete focus on hitting a clean forehand or backhand, better focus on tracking the ball... something achievable during the course of one game that you can build on and regain some confidence.

This one is simple, and I agree with the above posters. But, if you want to get your "confidence" back, just find a player or a couple of players that are slightly to far worse than you! My buddies do this all the time after they get beat! haha Then, well, you still probably suck, but you suck much less than who you are playing? Well, there u have it.. your a success! Tennis is quite like a video game with levels. If you constantly play at a level you can't compete on, yes, you will destroy your racket and everything else. If you stay at your level and then take chances up and lose.. Well, just find some scrubs to beat on again and get your timing and confidence back, and try again!.. Good luck at the sucking! haha

Feel free to pass the Dunlop 4d rackets on to me the next time this happens to you. I'll trade them for some old rackets that you can freely smash on the ground.

Taking a break from competitive play helps. Just getting the fun back into the game through rallying and just hitting with some friends...

Legit advice, but sarcastic: ditch the immaturity.

Legit advice and way better phrased: come to the realization that 1/2 of every single person who picks up a racquet today is going to lose, regardless. Losing is a part of tennis and does not require a particular response (giving up the game, destroying inanimate objects etc).

Playing tennis is not alway about winning or losing.
Sometimes, you embrace the game for the fresh air, exercise, company, and you are not at work.
So count your roses, not your thorns.
And who cares when you lose badly? ONLY YOU ! We all see you bad days and that's how we judge how you play.
YOU judge your tennis on your best days.
