I'd think I'd like for my son to try BHB7. He likes a softer co-poly in a hybrid setup. We've pretty much settled on Black Iontec and Black5Edge.
Does BHB7 play anywhere similar ? |

Way better slice spin, and topspin, and best hybrid with poly star energy.

just played with bhb7 in a hybrid with quasi-gut for the first time last night. not a good a idea to use quasi-gut as this is a pretty powerful sting. i can only describe it as "jumpy", the whole setup that is. in fact, i really don't thing you need to hybrid this stuff since i'ts really soft. as a hybrid with quasi-gut it was way too powerful and extremely soft. if i were to even try to hybrid this i would use a stiffer synthetic or just go with ogsm since that plays a fairly stiff as a cross. the one thing i did like was the comfort and feel of the setup. ball pocketing was nice as well, best i've tested so far. however, the control was out the window and too many adjustments needed to be made to keep a consistent rally.
this setup was very hard to control, for me. when i tried to hit through the ball i dumped it into the net. the only way i could keep a rally was to hit in a more upward motion which cleared the net by 3-4 feet then nose dived near the service line. perhaps it was the cross, but i feel like i would have gotten the same or similar results in a full bed. if i were to test this again, which i probably won't i would play a full bed at between 53-55 ( my hybrid test was at 47/52) as a hybrid i'd use ogsm and set tension at 50/55. i've played with a bunch of shaped poly's and the more i play with them the more i realize that if you already hit with alot of topspin these shaped ploy's only exaggerated what you already have. in other words they bring, at least for me any advantage, competitive or otherwise. my next 2 tests will be with round poly's starting with SPPP and WC Scoprion. if you're looking for a soft poly that will, most definitely give you more spin than definitely give this a try. in fact give it a try anyway and make your own conclusions about it, but for those who already generate a fair bit of top spin you may find that sometimes more, is just more. |

BHB7 17 doesn't need to be crossed with a multi as it's already very springy.

I finally laced up a half set of this tonight. I crossed it with Iso Baseline Spin to get 2 sets out of one since the crosses don't really benefit from texture. Gotta say, I'm a bit excited about this one. Feels like a soft version of BHBR. I liked that string a lot for spin and control, but it lacked power and feel. This has the same fence wire feel, but seems a lot more springy as you weeve the crosses. I recently did the same set up but with Cyclone Tour (seems to get similar comments to BHB7 and mirrors its stats in the comparison box), and I REALLY like the feel of it. I'm hoping this will put the spin up to BHBR standards, but keep the feel of the Cyclone Tour, as CT didn't have quite the spin of BHBR. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. This might be the main I'm looking for!

Could anyone compare this to Solinco your bite? Granted TB doesn't have 7 edges...
Thanks.

Torres, did you ever test this in a hybrid with the BHBR? Or, any other that maintained the playability but extended the life?

I used BHB7 as lot last summer when it was hot out. Was awesome. Full bed 50 lbs. Indoor this winter they keep the courts at 60-65 degrees and it works terrible in that colder temperature.
I tried tour bite once and did not like it. Too stiff. Only played for half an hour with it and never bought anything Solinco again. |

I like both but I find its harder to hit a flat ball with the black 7. I don't want my shots too spinny but thats probably due to my style.
They both have good comfort and feel (Black is a touch more crisp, blue's a bit more smooth) - But I string low in the mid to low 40's with midsize frames. It comes down to a trade off between penetration and good spin (Blue) or super -almost stupid- amounts of spin (BlacK). I find blue to be better suited for me with player's racquets. But a baseline pounder that likes to rip the ball with good power and comfort should look no further with black. |
