Do you speak English? The question is: "who is the greater athlete"? I don't need to have seen Jordan play to do basic math - 6' 9'' 270lbs is greater than 6' 6'' 220lbs.

And besides, how many people consider Wilt Chamberlain the greatest ever? Do I need to have been alive in the 60's-70's to make so bold a statement?

Better athlete? I guess if we're talking a series of NFL Combine type measurables, then Lebron.

Better player? Jordan, and it's not close. And this is coming from somebody who grew up a die hard Pistons fan and was all for "the Jordan rules."

I'll take Jordan over Lebron.

But Lebron is so much better than Kobe it isn't even funny. The idea that Kobe is clutch is one of biggest myths in the game, he has been one of the worst players with the game on the line for years now. Additionally, he never played at a level as high as Lebron has played at for most of his career and he is really not a great team player.

If you added Lebron to any team, that team would make the playoffs (see how bad Cleveland was without him after he left). If Lebron had gotten to play in Kobe's place and time with the Lakers, they may have won 10 titles (and he would not have run Shaq out the door). The Lakers would easily be a top 4 seed this year if you switched Kobe with Lebron, even with all their issues.

Jordan is best of all time no question. But LeBron is pretty damn good and has a solid chance to match Jordan's accolades before all is said and done. Scary thing is LeBron is just peaking. Stay tuned.

why is that?
If I knew them in person I'd risk saying something like that but I dont.
Especially when Lebron is known to be surrounded by a very agressive and hysterical entourage...

I completely agree with you. I think that Lebron is the better pure athlete, but MJ was the better overall basketball player.

MJ (at his best) jumped higher, hang longer and ran faster than Lebron.
Maybe at the gym Lebron can lift heavier but that's it.
Mj is a better athlete.

In other words, you like MJ more than James.

As far as physicality is concerned, MJ does not have any sort of clear advantage over James

He was a better BBall player though.

Jordan is known to be quite a jerk, very self-centered and arrogant. It serves him very well as a competitor, but I don't hear many reports of nice things he did. There have been many reports of Jordan fighting teammates and holding grudges against people forever.

Lebron is the type of person who gets along well with everyone. He tried to play the bad guy role when he went to Miami but it just wasn't him. He went back to being a fun loving guy who everyone liked. Even Kobe said he can't get Lebron to talk trash, Lebron just smiles back. I don't consider his entourage aggressive or hysterical, perhaps you could provide a link?

I also do admit I don't know either in person, but considering how scrutinized they each have been, I feel I have some idea of what they are like.

Kids born in the 90's would not know much about Jordan. They like the NOW stars better than the retired older stars.

But I'd pick Jordan any day. Like many have said, Jordan is clutch, got the best mental strength, and plays both ends well.

James may be more athletic or got better modern training to buff him up, but he does not have the ability to lift his team to a new level. He won the championship by joining a relatively stronger team. Contrast to almost all the top HOF players.

I can replay tons of signature moves of Jordan in my head, but nothing really pops up as signature moves of James.

Basically, what Kevin Garnett is to opponents, Jordan was to his own teammates. Because Jordan was so important to the NBA, the media kept mum about it.

Lebron is a better athlete than Jordan (though IMO Bo Jackson was better than both, perhaps greatest American athlete ever.) Jordan's 40-yard and vertical are only slightly better than Lebron, who has 40-50lbs and 2 inches on Jordan. In terms of power, there's no equal. His first love was football, and he was recruited by Ohio State to be a wide receiver. He might have been drafted by the NFL.

In terms of skill and mental strength, it goes to Jordan. Imagine MJ in Lebron's body.

Honestly, I would hate that. Nobody has ever looked better playing the game of basketball than Jordan. He was so fluid and perfect. LBJ is more physical and not at the level of grace that Jordan had (no one has it..Kobe is closest).

LOL why is this even a question. MJ went 72-10 with Pippen and role players, imagine what he'd do with Wade and Bosh. MJ would also get to the line so much more in today's NBA.
