I am anticipating a big jump up in the rankings today. Although will be bigger when he computer rankings come in next week.Wins over #35,45,59,61 and only loss to #6.
If we can beat Auburn Friday before the computer rankins come out next week, then we will jump into the 25 range and if we lose to Auburn the 35-40 range. Last edited by Clemson_tennis : 02-19-2013 at 08:51 AM. |

Just looked at some teams ranked in the 30s resumes and Clemson has a far better one than many of them.
For instance UNC Wilmington is 39 and has 1 win over #53 team and a loss to #11. the rest unranked wins. Santa Clara #37. 2 wins over #38. Losses to 21, 24 and 50. Boise State at 38, Win over 44, 5 losses to teams in the 30-45 range and one to #13. Indiana at 32. Wins over 59 and 61. 4 losses to teams ranked ahead of them and one to #34. So what this shows is that when the computer rankings come out Clemson should make a significant jump into the 30's or even low 20's even if we lose to Auburn friday. Hell even Baylor at 18. win over #69, loss to 17 and 4 unranked wins. Last edited by Clemson_tennis : 02-19-2013 at 09:28 AM. |

I forgot that logic and stats aren't actually used by the voters. |

Hello clemsontennis have a question. My family and I were very close to coach kriese. I even worked all the tiger tennis camp. Does he ever make an appearance at any of the matches, i know he s based in Maryland now, but I was just curious.

Clemson: I think I have maybe 4 mens matches and 3 or 4 womens matches up there this year.

He has not been to one Clemson match since he left. Bridges were burned. Probably will be a bit more time before he makes an appearance . Without going into too much detail, it involved the recruitment of Arnau Brugues.

vs 21 Auburn tomorrow.
Last year we sneaked out the doubles point vs Auburn in the blue/gray classic but then we got blitzed in singles. Mies has fallen since then and Maden won the last meeting between the two. It will be indoor since there is a 100% chance of rain tomorrow. I anticipate a close match. If we take doubles then we will win the match. I think we will get wins at 1,5 and 6. I don't like #3 matchup. Meza vs Ollert. Ollert is lightning fast and will frustrate Meza with all the balls he gets back. |

Rigsby goes from losing to lopasso 6-1 6-2 last year to beating him 6-2 6-0 this year. Wow

You called the 1 & 5 matches - lots of blowouts all around. All you need is 1 of the 2 that goes 3 assuming Harrington doesn't come back in this 2nd set.

That's one helluva win. Last year we would have folded there for sure. Harrington might close this out for 5-2

Nice win for your guys. I thought with Dom Maden out Auburn would get you - I was definitely incorrect.

Doubles was tough. Ansari and Wibowo led 3-0 but dropped it 7-9 and that ended up being the decider. Disappointing Dom Maden could not play again because that would have been a great doubles match at #1, #10 Maden bros vs #1 Mies/Cochrane.
Singles: (Clemson won all but 4) 1: 83 Yannick Maden def 106 Andreas Mies 6-3 6-2 Very good performance from Maden here. Last year Mies dominated Maden and kept Maden back-peddling. I was impressive with Mies then but I am not any longer. He has regressed, He has no plan on court and is not a natural tennis athlete. Maden was far more solid and controlled the court all match. 2: Hunter Harrington def Daniel Cochrane 7-5 3-6 6-3 These players are pretty much mirror images of one another. Harrington has the bigger and more versatile forehand though and controlled the majority of the points. Went down a break in the 3rd at 1-0 and this was when Ansari trailed at 6, 3-2. That was a dicey few minutes where it looked like Auburn may come from behind and pull it out. But Harrington buckled down and played solid throughout the 3rd. 3: Gerardo Meza def 120 Lukas Ollert 6-4 6-1 Very solid win. Ollert is a good good player. Very quick and great footwork, legs always churning. But gets too defensive sometimes and Meza was able to push him around. Meza also did a very nice job of closing at the net when the opportunity presented itself, not something that is usually his strength but he did it well today and it won him a lot of points with Ollert glued near the wall. 4: Dennis Lengsfield def Ayrton Wibowo 6-2 6-0 Classic Wibowo terrible display. 5: Zac Rigsby def Lucas Lopasso 6-2 6-0 Last year Rigsby got beat by Lopasso 6-2 6-1 and a complete about face this year. I didnt see a lot of this match to see why Rigsby was doing so well. 6: Austin Ansari def Joseph Van Dooren 6-3 3-6 6-3 Austin won the first set and I was expected another roll through the 2nd as he has been doing all this season. But Van Dooren dug in and caused Ansari's level to drop. I went over and watched the whole 3rd set. The beginning of the set was intense. Both guys throwing their bodies around and making ridiculous gets. It;s times like these where you realize how ridiculously fit college tennis players are. On one of the changovers Van Dooren told his coach "I can't feel my legs". Down 2-3 Ansari started to push the action more. Chose his spots and hit a few winners from the baseline and made some great net closes. His finished at the net proved to be huge. He was more aggressive and took the break at 4-3. He put his foot on the pedal and at that point Van Dooren was out of it and didn't threaten to break back at all. Ansari gets his first big clinch of his career. |

Clemson women lost two to Florida and Stanford. Ambitious scheduling there.

Wisconsin beat Minnesota! That will boost the Badgers ranking higher, which will give Clemson a more quality win. We are still Wisconsin's lone loss.

If I am reading the ITA manual correctly this is how Clemson should look tomorrow in the rankings:
4 countable wins for February 24th period. at #21 Auburn, 61 points + 10% for away = 67.1 # 38 Louisville, 44 points = 44 #55 Alabama, 30 points = 30 at #64 Dartmouth, 25 points + 10% away = 27.5 ---- loss to #8 Georgia = .2 168.6 / (countable wins + points from losses, which is 4.2) ------ 40.142 Looking at last years rankings a score of 40.142 is good enough for around 14-19 in the rankings. That'd be one heck of a jump - did you look at any other teams to see what they'd look like to see if it adds up as well?

looks like the ITA didn't give the away boosts. My final total had them in, their total of 38.02 is without the away boosts.
