During Barcelona he got injured and didn't play until Wimbledon. So he missed out on Madrid, Rome and RG.

I don't want to jinx anything.. but if he keeps on playing well and doesn't get injured we could see him rise in the rankings (maybe nearing or entering the top 10?)
He's a top 10 player in terms of ability, so here's hoping!

That is true, no more WTA starting next year. The men's will also drop to 250 instead of 500, as Rio will be taking it next year

i know everything changes but i'm a little sad to hear this. my wife and i lived in memphis for the first couple years after we got married so we always looked forward to the indoors there every feb. i know there's still gonna be a tourney there for the men but getting bumped down to a 250 means it probably won't attract the names like it used to.

I don't think there will be much of a change in the caliber of players playing. Most of the guys who will play the North American hard court swing will still play Memphis. Look at Delray and San Jose this year, the field is not very different from Memphis.
