Default picked up a *new* Prince CTS Synergy 28

Found this guy on the bay and picked it up for only $39. It has never been strung and plastic is still on the handle.

Part of me wants to leave it in unused condition... but I've got to play with it... right???

Nice find! I love playing with my old Prince racquets, but part of me says get a used one and keep that pristine.

In end end it's made to be played, but up to you.

How's the grip under the shrinkwrap on that?
Much of my oldies of that era with synthetic Dura+ has gone to mush
dunno whether to call it dry rot or just rubber degradation.

Playing with it will give you much, much, MUCH more pleasure and satisfaction than just looking at it.

Yes, the grip has completely disintegrated.

You are absolutely correct. I'm going to put a new grip on it, string it up, and give it a hit this weekend.

Funny you mention that. In high school, I played with a Graphite II and I strung it with syn gut in the low 70s. But I think I'll go with a poly in the mid 50s instead.

The older Prince models can handle these tensions if you put a nice flexy string in it.
Old Gamma Gut 1 15L at 70 lbs would be an ideal set up for me.
Plenty top spin and ample power.

Besides, if you put the machine on 70 you'll be lucky to end up at 65 anyway.

Nice! My highschool buddy used (and probably still does) play with that! Great find!

These frames were designed with syngut in mind.
I hope you are not disappointed with poly in this baby.

I've got a CTS Synergy DB 24 OS and a POG OS with poly on them. I'm not disappointed.

New grip and strung with Solinco Tour Bite 16 at 56#. It came out to be 341 grams (12.05 oz) and 7 points HL.

Too bad I have to wait 3 more days to play with it.

yeah was tinkering on a 1987 Response 110 tonite, that came up to 338g before OG.
They're surprisingly heavier than they look/feel.

If you want to keep that in new prestine condition but have the itch to hit with a Synergy, I have a couple of the CTS 26 MP models and a CTS 24 model avail for dirt cheap if interested. Email me if this intrigues you.
(Both are the Non bridge version like your CTS 2
