I'm entering my final year in sponsorship deal with Tecnifibre. I'm 17 and 6'5" play style is pretty aggressive with my game revolving round big serves and forehands. Problem lately has been generating any sort of speed on my backhand. I'm currently using the VO2 295 but I'm considering moving up to the 305 because it's heavier, should I switch mid-season and could this help make my backhand more solid?

Why not add some lead at 10-2 first, and see if you can still swing as fast?
While at it, add a little at the handle too, |

Problem is, I'm currently racket-less as I've smashed 3 this week! (Not been a good week haha)

OH..
I'd imagine, at 6'5" and still growing, you will be able to swing a 12 oz stick with ease. |

Yeah a lot of people are saying I should move up to a heavier weight but is mid-season the right time? There's no way I can demo one first either because the Tecnifibre reps in the UK are based hundreds of miles away!

It'd take you 4 practice days and one and a half matches to completely adapt.
Is that worth it? |

I would say in the long run it probably is I guess if it'd sort out this backhand for summer! If you we're in my shoes, what would you do?

Depends.
I'm 64. I'm almost blind. I can't run one step (torn tendons in the left ankle). My best tennis years were 1978-1979. But I can switch from my 10 oz Dunlop 500's to my 12.7 oz Dunlop Aero200 without losing too much in the final equation. |
