Since cost is becoming a factor, can someone opine on the benifits and drawbacks of stringing a full bed of a low-priced mutifilament like Sensation or Addiction, versus a hybrid of a premium multi like X-One Biphase in the mains with something like Gosen Sheep in the crosses.

I do this all the time. Sometimes I put the multi in the mains and the syn gut in the crosses and sometimes I put the syn gut in the mains and the multi in the crosses. Just depends on which strings they are and what feel I like. It works great as I get the benefits of both. A full bed of multi can get too mushy, can lose tension fast, can lose control, and can have less spin. OTOH, a full bed of syn gut can get a bit harsh or stiff, have less feel, and can be too low powered. But with a hybrid of multi and syn gut, I get the feel, control, and power that I want.

you just have to experiment until you find one you like. Some ppl say the cross only contributes 75% to the feel of the stringbed. If true, then put in a cheap syngut cross like Gosen sheep. I have found Gosen Sheep to be very durable and will outlast the multi mains.

If you have a syn gut cross you like it should work fine with a multi. I prefer that to full multi.
