Federer is the one that stopped Nole in his peak year at RG, not Nadal; given how things were shaping up that year/clay season Nadal would've bent over big time.

I'll take Djokovic now and later barring injury. I think he gets his career slam this year.

He was off during the whole French Open last year and still made the final and pushed Nadal to 4 sets. When he finally found his game prior to final rain delay, he was dominating Nadal winning an unheard of 8 straight games against the King of Clay.

I think Nadal is actually already back in form, on clay at least. We will see at IW if this was just a one-off or not but you don't destroy two top 10 players back to back without some great playing.

+1.

It won't be straight set though, looking at the way nadal handled ferrer lately.

It's funny that Djokovic is winning the poll because aright now I don't think Novak is ready for clay season at all, and he's definitely not playing in a form that would destroy anyone. His Dubai final was closer than the scoreline indicated and although a lot of aspects of his game have improved, in the Dubai final atleast he wasn't hitting as cleanly as he usually does. On clay that would definitely not be sufficient BUT by RG I feel like he'll be ready. So I actually think the time left is going to be an advantage for Novak just as much as it will be for Nadal and his recovery.

He doesn't have to destroy anyone, just beat them...like he's done in all of his matches in 2013.

He's the best player in the world without question. He's the only player in the world who can go mano-a-mano with Nadal on clay from the baseline and win points on a consistent basis. He's at the top of his game. There's no reason to believe he won't win the French this year. That's the missing jewel in his resume, and he's going to be highly focused and motivated to get it done in 2013.

He will complete his slam this year, and if that entails beating Rafa, whether in the finals or earlier, it is going to happen.

Let's not forget. Rafa was up 2 sets and a break last year and in about an hour, Novak practically had him begging to leave the court reeling off 8 straight games against the King of Clay.

The only thing that prevents Djokovic from winning slams right now is himself. The simple fact is that his best is better than everyone elses. If he can play his best, he wins. Heck, he doesn't even have to play his best the whole match. Just 3 of 5 sets at most.

I'm not doubting Novak's abilities, I'm just saying I don't really think he's ready to beat Nadal on clay YET. I do however think he'll be ready come RG. The clay masters will be extrememly important in his preparation.

How come you can't vote more than once? What a ripoff.

Tough to say, but if Nadal keeps improving and playing the way he has after only three tournaments, my money is on Nadal to win the FO. Very hard to discount a guy who is clearly the best on clay and has won the event seven times unless he is really off somehow.

Rafa would win in 5. He'd drop two of the first 3 sets, but would raise his level throughout the match.

really? because I can see it the other way around. nole is the one who is a slow starter, but if he sinks his teeth in I don't see him letting go.

He almost let go in AO, and i figure it would go something like that. rafa might win the first with a late break, djokovic the next two, but then Rafa would fight very late until Djokovic broke mentally.

If Rafa is gonna get it done, it doesn't need to go 5. It's not 2005-2008 anymore. Rafa isn't as fit as he used to be and 2011 will still give Novak confidence at this point in any 5-set match with Rafa.

before being the key word.
at this point in time I think that no one comes close to Djokovic when it comes to mental toughness and self belief that you can win every match.
