Yup, and Jimmy Arias mentioned during one of the Power Shares matches that Jim strings his frames at 73 lbs. Yikers. I see that he's switched from the Donnay X- Red 99 to the X Dual 102 Black recently. Wonder if he's always strung that high or if that has something to do with his transition to larger heads.

I'm around that age and still hit the ball almost as hard as anyone. No question that I play best with a full bed of Lux. Also, no question that it is harder on my arm than multis, gut, or gut hybrids. I'm still experimenting with gut hybrids. They can do some amazing things in terms of spin and/or speed, but I haven't really gotten comfortable with them so that I know what the respose is going to be. A pro may be able to adjust much quicker, but also may be more sensitive to the differences and may not want to take the time to adjust himself and the racket to each other. If their arms can take it, I would think that most would use the polyester.

Found 18 gauge poly provide lots of pop and little discomfort. Maybe thinner string may work for them.

I agree with you. Also in the same age range and the couple times I've tried poly it just didn't work for me. I do have a set of Tour Bite soft sitting on the shelf, but haven't worked up the desire to install it in one of my frames yet.

I a bit younger than Mac, but the times I tried to love poly, there just was no amore there for me.

Just hard feeling stuff. I don't do loopy, high to low, swings, so the big poly benefit of more spin just didn't affect my shots much at all.

It's okay stuff for my game, but I can do better elsewhere.

What was Courier's tension with the prostaff and how does that compare to his current setup.
I was wondering what his main/cross tension was. It is my understanding that he still uses a similar synthetic gut to what he used with the prostaff on the mains (unlike most pros that would use a gut).
Also wondering what type of setup people think he would have used if poly was available back when he was using the prostaff...
