Default Which racquet should I add to my collection?

My stash so far:

Puma BB Super
PS 6.0 85 SV
Prince Woodie
POG II
Wilson Jack Kramer PS woodie

Is there anything out there that doesn't hit like anything in my collection and I really should try it out? Thanks!

Dunlop Maxply Fort.......see why it was pretty much unchanged for over 50 years.

Donnay Allwood (or Allwood B Borg) and Head Vilas - classic woodies from the 70s. (The Borg Pro horrible - a must have in the collection but plays like poop)

200G - cool injection molded frame that hits like nothing else. Can warp like a mofo but an early 80s classic.

Give the Wilson T-2000 a try. Wilson made millions of them - literally -so they are easy to find and inexpensive. Play a couple of hours with that racket and you will really appreciate how good Jimmy Connors was!

It's a good start. You must have the following:

Dunlop MAX 200G
Head Prestige Pro
Head Prestige Classic 600
Wilson n90
Wilson k90
just to name a few

Dunlop max 200g since its a graphite that plays more like a woody and and quite different than your becker, sampras, and chang graphites.

May want to try a midsize open throat woody since they were the last wood transitions before the composites and play more powerful than the standard head woods. I recommend the prokennex golden ace that was played by Jose Luis Clerk

Nice start, but Snauwaert Ergonom is a must if you want to be part of the big boys club. It definitely plays differently from any of those you have.

I have a Blackburne (the racket with two string beds) in my collection...if you can find one it definitely grabs attention.

Which version is the best? I noticed they have "light", "medium", etc. ratings on the sides.

Just guessing, but I'd say go for the light. It may weigh the same as today's "heavier" frames (probably around 12 oz).

Yea wood weights ranged from 350+ grams for "light" all the way to over +450 for a "heavy"......look for a light or light/medium maybe a medium. Even they are heavier - due to the head size and weight distribution it's not that bad to what you are used to with modern frames.

Good idea but look for a Head Edgewood (a mid size vision of the Head Vilas) and very very nice stick. Also a Slazenger V24 (Vilas stick from early 80s) also made famous by Pat Cash and that awesome 5 setter he lost to Lendl at the USO semis.

Kennex was meh..........when JL Clerc left Rossi he did this deal with PK and disappeared off the rankings......

F200 a good one.......super soft and comfortable. NOT a s&v stick but nothing better than playing on clay with one.

Would Le Coq Sportif Concept 3 Yannick Noah qualify?

Both the woodies he used LCS Cresendo (just a repaint of the adidas Nastase Comp) and TCO oversize he used as good calls. Cresendo IMPOSSIBLE to find but the TCOs show up fairly often on *bay from Europe.

Would you recommend going for "heavy" to build shoulder/arm strength? I don't have problem swinging the Prince Woodie at ~13-14oz.

We just learned with heavy wood sticks.......I was 8 or 9 and playing with light/mediums and mediums.......heavy just hits so solid.
