The announcers mentioned it last night during Federer's match. For whatever reason, Roddick is getting 2 nights off, so he doesn't play till friday... even though i think after his 1st round match he coulda played the next day...

For some reason, it takes USO 3 days (Monday through Wednesday) to complete the 1st round so some get a 2 day break before 2nd round match. Wouldn't it be better to complete 1st round by end of 2nd day and give a day off between semis and the final?

Well, looking at the past two days I can finally see why the USTA allows three days for the men's first round matches. They take forever, it seems. Anyway, make a note of that for next year: M, T, W 1st Round matches and perhaps one 2nd round match on Wed night. Th - 2nd rnd matches for one half, Fri - 2nd round matches for the other half. Then rain will come and screw everything up, just in time for CBS to come on the weekend and replay the Connors-Krickstein match a hundred times (instead of finding tape of interesting matches that we missed during the week, like that Haas five setter). Please file this info in your PDA's.
