Everyone here talks about the men. But I've noticed this has to be the most open women's slam tournament for as long as I can remember. Because of injuries etc there are no clear favourites. The matches are also surprisingly competitive. Who do you think will come through to win the tournament.

Well, you may have 5-6 women that can take the title home. Obviously Davenport, then Henin, Capriati, Williams (although I really doubt they are capable of winning it), Maresmo, who can play well but she can choke it away as usual..

I don't care who wins the women's championship as long as Serena gets beaten early. Can't stand her game (all that yelling necessary?), can't stand her sportmanship when she loses (French 03), and most of all get rid of that ridiculous outfit (bling, bling). I'd love to see someone like Justine with her power and finese crush the Williams sistas.

Noooooo, anyone but J "the Hand" Double H. I don't really care who wins, because it is the WTA afterall, as long as it's not J "the Hand" Double H. If I were a betting man, however, I'd bet on Serena. Fo' shizzle my nizzle.

Venus is gonna take it all... even though she hasnt been playing her best throughout the early rounds.. she will rise her game for the occasion.. i hope she hands it to davenport....

I really doubt Venus can beat Davenport. Davenport looks to be the best among that group and she may very well prove it this year. Venus never looked comfortable in all of her matches. That forehand and second serve is not just not stable enough to even threaten Lindsay. I hope Henin wins it I think she deserves after how much she worked for it.

Its going to be Davenport vs Henin in one semifinal and then Serena vs Mauresmo in the other. In the finals Davenport vs Serena and that match is a toss up, but I think Davenport has the better chance.

Davenport will hopefully win if she actually runs balls down and plays defense when she has to. Lately she's been better about not just standing on the baseline when the ball is on the other side of the court from where she was just standing.

Now I really enjoy watching JHH play but watching Nadia Petrova make such easy work of her last night was awesome.
Nadia looked too nervous at the end of the match though, I thought she might blow it. I don't think she will be able to keep her game up over her nerves for the rest of the competition. |

Davenport is definitely the favorite, IMO.
