Default Monfils Is Out

Gael Monfils failed his quest for the junior Grand Slam, losing in the third round to Viktor Troicki.

Yep this was a few days ago..

Its probably better for him anyways; the pressure if he had won all 4 would have been probably crushing if he had won.

Now look out for Andrew Murray and Andreas Beck both of whom have done very well on the pro events already and are naturals.

The only reason why Monfils lost is because he was injured this summer (Knee) and didn't play until the 25th of august... He was not prepared at all for the tournament...

Monfils is a child in an adult's body. Thats why he dominated the juniours. It won't be the same at the senior level - you can't dominate men's tennis through sheer size.

I see... Even in the matches he won he played badly. (He even got bagled.) I really wanted him to win, though.

I've seen Viktor Troicki play, and wasn't terribly impressed. Perhaps Monfils was indeed injured - but another possible reason he lost is that his head was getting too big. He seemed to be developing quite the ego. This may be just what he needed.

Andrew Murray is an interesting kid. British. Got a temper. Plays - and even looks - like Roddick.

Monfils had a broken leg or something, and didn't play all summer, only started practicing again on August 25th.
