Sometimes this forum drives me batty, one reason I left before. For example, everyone who has ever played or coached any sport knows one truism.....NEVER stretch a cold muscle. We can argue about static vs dynamic stretching, whether to stretch both pre work out and post or not. But none of us would ever argue that you simply do not stretch cold muscles. It has been researched to death, stretching a cold muscle decreases performance and can lead to more injuries long term.
On the Health and Fitness board I simply corrected a poster who said "stretch first, then warm up, then play". Very polite correction of an obvious mistake. The response was typical of this and other long timers who can not STAND to ever be wrong, an arrogant defense of their blatant mistake. I hate stuff like that. Especially when giving bad advice that could injure other posters, maybe some kid who does not know any better. There, I feel better after venting. Time to go hit with the kid. |
