My boy and I are both very much looking forward to experiencing tennis in Florida - he will, hopefully, be competing against some very good players his own age. It will surely, as you put it, be a reality check. He knows it and I know it - and we both intend to use the experience as a motivator to work harder.

I do not care about who wins the match - we could agree upfront to proclaim your kid as the winner if you prefer that. I was impressed by your description of your girl - and thought that a practice match with her would be a good experience for my boy.

You say that your girl would hate to play my boy. Fair enough - it was only a proposal and you are ofcourse entitled to decline it.

Fix his take back, backing up issues, get the racquet in the slot, fix these first....then start competition.
My boy is not ready for practice matches?!

I will have you know that he beat our national number 5 in the 12u - and he took a set from a player who had participated in the world cup in Croatia this summer.

It is stuff like this that makes you come accross as condescending (are you even aware of that?).

However - despite your less than endearing personality, I like you. Where do we sign up for private lessons? (No, I am not beeing sarcastic).

As far as all these 8, 9, 10-year old kids, Jelena Jankovic didn't start playing tennis until she was 9 1/2. Whether TCF's evaluation of his daughter's present skills is correct I have no way of knowing, but he has often correctly stated that winning at a young age isn't a good barometer of how good the kids will be when they grow up.

If some of those international girls cabable of beating Abby are only 8, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't say it's impossible, I've seen some of the girls mature very early physically.

And psychologically, I'd say that some of those younger girls I 've seen wouldn't feel any pressure whatsoever facing Abby, quite the contrary.

When it comes to Db, never seen him anywhere but in videos, so difficult to say for sure if he has a real chance or not, but I hope all the best for him and his team. I respect their all in attitude very much, they've got balls.

At the same time, because couple of my friends did it and one is trying to do it right know, I do know that trying to make it through the futures and challengers (one of those friends made it atp top 100, others 100-250, all top 5 euro kids originally) is something I wouldn't push my kid into instead of free college unless my kid was top 10 ITF. Being 'only' almost top european seems to mean nothing. Maybe it's different if you're American I don't know...
I seen Abby play last year at Eddie Herr international tournament. She was 10 yrs old and 10nth seed. Lost to the champion in Quarterfinals. That would put her at 10 yrs old in the top 8 in the world's 12. Today she is 11 and I think she will be #1 seed at Eddie Herr, at Nike International (she got a wild card), at Orange Bowl. Now if you think that some 10 yr old will beat her. I wold say NOOOO Way. She is from our region and I've seen her grow up. The only way she will get beat is if she is sick, or hurt...dont' listen to TCF he is full of it.

Your characterization of him is spot on, but I think he still has a lot to offer the budding pro.

SKIP TCF, GET TOGETHER WITH NUMBER1COACH, HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. GO WITH PROVEN WINNERS NOT SOME WANNABE'S,
