Default Best way to build a butt on a Yonex?

I know I've seen it in one of the yonex threads or racquetholic threads, but I can't find it now.

Anyone have any good tips on how to build a big butt on a buttless Yonex? Without adding much weight.

I made one by using around an 8" section of overgrip, folded in half, and wrapped around a couple of times. Then covered that with electrical tape. Then applied overgrip over that and the replacement grip. works fine. But there's probably a better method.

Thanks for any ideas or links to threads.

That's what I do to build up my buttcaps..use worn out overgrips and then cover with hockey tape, then put on new overgrip.

I have heard that some folks have used really narrow electrical tape (1/4in) to build up the edge of the buttcap. They just wrap it a couple of times around the edge then put on a new overgrip.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my 95d!

You could build it up with a shrink wrap by only covering the buttcap area

Electrical tape works but even it adds a lot of weight but it is where you grip the handle so it has a minimal effect.

I just copied wawrinka and put some athletic tape on the bottom of the grip under the og. Feels good.

Yeah I did this on one, but I got lucky I guess because I have not done it perfectly on any of my other sticks.

Basically what happens is when I try and cut the athletic tape to the right width I screw it up. There must be a cleaner way to do it that I am missing.

But the answer is to buy athletic tape.

Swap the butt cap for a Wilson one.

The quickest, easiest fix is to wrap a short length of overgrip 3x around the buttcap (wrapped over the replacement grip).

You can also replace the Yonex buttcap with another brand cap. I don't know if there have been any recent changes but:

1. I have fitted Pro Kennex and Babolat buttcaps to old yonex handles easily.

2. The buttcaps with trap doors (wilson, babs, etc) are usually thicker at the end of the caps to accommodate the trap door, usually adding about .2 inches to the length of the racket over caps without trap doors.

Cake. Lots and lots of cake. Ribs work well too, just make sure they're glazed in a thick BBQ sauce.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will try the last one, ribs and cake. Seriously though I guess ive been doing the right thing.

I don't understand why any manufacturer would make a buttless grip. Except if they intentionally do it so the user can customized it the way they like it. Wilson racquets have the best by far Imo.

b,
i use a 1/4 inch wide piece of leather pulled from the back of a wilson hybrid grip.
cut to length. add to grip end. (it has tack to it so it sticks)
wrap entire grip with overgrip.
works great

I use sculpture's clay (imported from Italy) and create a rough with a swivel loop, then I round off the edges with a damp sponge and fire it in the kiln at 3025 fah for about 9 hours.
