Default Fed's chance at regaining the #1 spot if he loses Sunday

Title says it all. We all know he'll win, but if he does lose, how quickly could he regain the top spot and what specific results from both him and Novak in the next few tournaments would be needed to achieve it? Of course getting back the top spot means Fed would beat Sampras' record for the most total weeks at #1...

Which one is it? His name's already engraved, or you can conceive of a defeat and want to know of alternative routes to #1?

by my calculations, Djokovic is defending more points after Wimbledon, 4160 to Federer's 3990.

Djokovic has a Canadan masters title and a cinci final to defend, where Federer only has a R16 and a quarter final. Then Djokovic is defending more at the uS Open too.

Djokovic at the moment is 725 points behind Djokovic, the olympics are still to come,so if he loses in the final of Wimbledon, he could grab the number one before the us open with the right results. Say if Federer Federer doesn't do worse than Djokovic at the olympics, Djokovic fails to win either canada or cinci (he would drop at least 400 points from his canada defense)and Fed made the final of canada or cinci, that would do it I think.

Djokovic has 11000 points at the moment, if Federer loses in finals on Sunday he will have 10275 points. Djokovic has a title to defend at Montreal and a final at Cincy (total 1600 points) and Federer isn't defending much at both the tournaments so he has a very good chance even if he loses vs Murray. And don't forget there is Olympics as well. He can opt to play at Shanghai as well which he missed last year.
(Oops, looks like Towser already posted at the time i was posting, nvm )

I think it'll be much easier for Federer to just win this damn thing :\

Let's not even go there. This is his big chance and letting go of it should not be an option. He just needs one more week at number one to beat Pete's weeks at number one record not to mention equalling Pete's Wimbledon record and getting slam 17 which should ensure that nobody will catch him any time soon. At 31 (almost) you don't get these chances every day.
